Skyrim and oblivion put tonnes more thought into making your own character. TONNES. but, the most you see of them in game is hands. Just the fucking hands. That's all. Morrow didn't put too much thought into it. Preset heads, preset body stuff, pretty bland, but again, mostly all you saw in game was the pc's back, or hands. Or cliff-racers. Fucking cliff racers.

and skyrim's combat feels like you're fighting with infaltable versions of your weapons, the greatest enemy is falling into the void, they keep calling blatant wyverns "dragons", and there are so few voice actors that you'll often find people talking to themselves.

But hey, as long as you can take arrows to the knee and mod in randy savage I guess it's a 10/10 pile of junk, right?
#48 - oinos (08/29/2015) [-]
True, the hit system needed work. But the hit system hasn't much come about. Do you honestly have to move left like Oblivion to activate a left swinging attack? No. It's still bullshit. Skyrim doesn't have some touch screen mod to swing in loop or arc to your decree of exactness either. Minor flaw across the major of all the games. Come up with better, silly casual.

Map ratios have shrunk massively to increase graphics too. And wtf about making your whole character when 99% of the game you're in FPS mode with nothing but hands in the view. yup. Graphics. Look at those pixels. Thumbnail to it's finest imagery. Good job Bethesda.

Ultimately the best functions I've noted are not melee attacks, nor are they some greater function to code in. Nor even to do with DnD styled to hit or not to hit sorts of things. Though, yes, I do agree that those things would and could be done better. Hence the original note about modded stuff being something I look forward to. A good game, improved to be made BETTER. Who doesn't want that? ESO definitely wasn't that. To be sure it was a failure of the highest function. Oblivion was a failure to some degree. Skyrim a step forward. Eso was like diving headlong into a pool filled with dried cement.

Actually, yes, and more so.

I want the perfect game dude. I'm amazed no one else seems to want it.

Then again I'm the asshole who wants to intermix Dungeon Keeper 2's aspects of possession and underground warfare with blind management, and Black and White 1's retarded creature AI, oversize mushrooms, population management, worship system, and miracle hand gesture base... It would make a total warfare and rule game. A world above ground, sub layers below ground. Godly force within either. Resource allocations and interpersonal depth with moderate AI. Only thing missing would be a difficulty spectrum on par with Dark Reign (1 not the ungodly mess of 2), and it's expansion (Shadowhand), so that the biased swarm AI for non direct units to use.

Yes. I've shown you more Autism in fucking oceans haven't I?

>the gameplay from oblivion

why the fuck would you want that lmao the best part of oblivion was the quest writing not the gameplay

we need an entirely new combat system for the elder scrolls that makes combat both challenging and engaging, not mash left click over and over again like oblivion and skyrim. dont ask me how to go about that because i have no idea im just stating what is needed to take the elder scrolls from something to enjoy for 1 playthrough into something that has replayability for multiple because combat is actually enjoyable

I think he was simply saying that the Arena was a feature he wanted continued over. Being a spar pit where a player earns money for killing shit. Personally I see it as Meh. Specially given the healing podium in the aftermath of each fight and the need to come back to the fight master to continue fights. I'd rather have been told in some Caesar-esk form of Fallout like-ness "You're forsaken, we're leaving you in the pit till you die, or till you beat everything we can think to open a door and let in on you."

The quest line in Oblivion was shit. Numidium was overused, as were the plot keys and hinge points, as was and is being the errand boy for every cockwaggling person in a seat of power. Especially the booted from X, return by gathering X times 20 bullshit.

Agreed on combat too. They do need something with a bit more complexity. Maybe something like Metal Gear Revengeance's sword system, but without 2d shearing through the target. Blocks and whatnot occurring when angles cross at good times or something. Specially given most computers have built in touch screen/pad to accommodate it.
User avatar #82 - hargleblarg (08/29/2015) [-]
A few ideas to improve Elder Scrolls combat:

- Parrying system: Mashing attack and holding block aren't fun after the millionth time, so incorporating a parry system would make fights at least require more thinking. You'd attack, and your opponent has a limited window to block and parry the blow, nullifying 90% damage taken. You can hold down block, but it will only block 50% of damage unless you time it right and get a parry.

- Individual weapon stats: So Skyrim went down the route of "hit shit 'til it dies" and made the only difference between weapons their damage and swing-time. When I say "individual stats" I mean things like strength (parry a claymore hit with a dagger and you're a badass, but you also just shattered your arm), durability (WHY did they remove durability?! WHY?!?!), swing-speed (to come in with parrying above), damage type (certain armours block piercing strikes, while others block crush damage etc.). Basically make combat more than "how big is your attack stat? How big is your defence stat?

- Arrow shots and weapon strikes correlate to where on the body the target is hit: Kinda speaks for itself. Get a headshot and you're almost guarenteed an instakill. Hit them in the leg and they'll move slower. Hit them in the titty and you're a monster.

- Spells have more variation and a focus on non-combatitive uses: Sure, throwing fire and lightning is cool and whatever but it gets stale. Instead make magic affect the terrain, like putting a wall up between you and your opponent, or lowering the ground around them so they can't climb up. Give them vivid hallucinations that the troll over there is actually you, and make traps more varied than "step on this GO BOOM". Instead try things like activating poison clouds, teleporting them to a location (nearby) of your choice etc. It's MAGIC, go fucking nuts.

What about a Mark and Recall spell like Morrowind?

Or a summon spell that actually is like Twaining(don't laugh it's an old DnD break spell made to take parts of things and craft from them. Half rabbit, half lion etc. But in this case I mean to use it mostly for summons... : You twain a dagger, and the spell Summon Dagger is made. Twain Mehrunes Razor, and it's Summon Mehrunes Razor etc. Essentially you rip something apart so you can bring it back as a summon endlessly later. Twain a deer and kill it with proper soul stone, and you can summon phantom deer/or whatever.)
User avatar #89 - hargleblarg (08/29/2015) [-]
I never actually played Morrowind, I came in on Oblivion and goddamned loved it (still do). But yeah, the issue with Skyrim is everything was dumbed down and limited. In Oblivion you actually had choices to make that defined who your character was, in Skyrim you had an optimal build (stealth-assasin-archer-mage) that was clearly better than everything else.

When you give players more variety then different playstyles can come out and shine, and a better combat system promotes actual decisions when it comes to exploring different places (who ACTUALLY prepared to fight Falmer/Draugr? Nobody. You just went in and hit shit like everything else). With my ideas enemies would have specific strengths and weaknesses that you have to prepare for (Skeletons weak to crushing damage are nigh-unkillable with a piercing weapon etc.).

Oblivion was a Dumb down. So was Morrowind.

Less complexity, more graphics. It was gradual but kept moving away from the humor and other elements of the game to accommodate lore, broken as it may be by "dragon events", and other things which blanched flavor but added visual or other texture.

IE, first event happening if you leave the village of Seyda Neen on foot in Morrowind, is that you find a guy that flops down before you from a failure of a spell of Incarnian Flight(A jump spell that he programmed to send him miles up without thinking to have any Feather Fall or other things to land with.). Humor, but flavor there.

Most humor you get in Oblivions beginning is that you are being lectured by a dunmer who is in prison with you. Most likely a fall back on having company like the dunmer in the beginning of morrowind on your prison ship that was a fellow prisoner, who rationalized with you and tried to assure you of being ok.

Skyrim's early humor? I'm still searching for anything I remember in it that was lulzy early in game. Maiq was kept from ages back, but he's about the most hehe thing in that game.
User avatar #95 - hargleblarg (08/29/2015) [-]
Oblivion had its moments. The Shivering Isles was just perfection, if every game had expansions like that then the world would be so much better. I genuinely don't remember any funny moments from Skyrim, it was just grey everywhere, both in humour and visuals. The reason I love Oblivion is because of the vibrant colours and enthralling world. Skyrim took that away and replaced it with grey. Then they removed any reason to go to stores (except to sell your items), then they made combat boring as fuck. It's literally "here's a monster with lots of health. Go nuts.". I dislike almost every change Bethesda made with Skyrim, it took away everything I loved about Oblivion and replaced it with grey.

Questlines were REALLY shit. "I'm at the College of Winterhold, oh look, I'm now arch-mage." There was, what, five quests to become arch-mage? And yet in Oblivion it took a god-damned age. You EARNED that shit. Same for the Fighter's guild. "Hi I'd like to join the Companions. Oh look, I'm now leader of the Companions.". Just...come on I like earning shit. It's not about the reward, it's about the journey.
#84 - oinos (08/29/2015) [-]
An illusions spell that actually causes illusions discernible only to the caster?! Preposterous!! I fucking love you. You hit some shit on the head. Skyrims Illusion magic being limited to rage/calm and weak as shit was annoying and hard to level unless you kept a deer hostage indefinitely. Not even going into how many times I've been walking the map and staring at my rag-dolls multiple porcupine like arrows in my face, arms, legs and whatever that I laughed off. (Arrow to the balls was the best. Looked like I was straddling a quiver.)
User avatar #52 - hairyforcekin (08/29/2015) [-]
no he meant "map from arena" as in the world map from elder scrolls arena in which you could go to any and all provinces

the main quest was not the best but the side quests were well written imo
#55 - oinos (08/29/2015) [-]
Oh. Fuckyeah the quests were well wrote then. But diff era. The map was ungodly huge tho too. it was like being hit by a bus : overkill.
#45 - anon (08/29/2015) [-]
I agree with both of you.

Also what do you mean "the map from Arena"? That's the oldest one, I didn't think it had anything special to it other than being an old game?
#51 - oinos (08/29/2015) [-]
Arena is huge. Don't use the arena map. Holy sweet jesus, just don't. It'd take you fucking ages to make it from city A to city B, and chances are you'd leave auto walk on and just leave the room for nine hours to do it.
#53 - oinos (08/29/2015) [-]
Though I do think they should make a seamless Tamriel. A sort of hub game with all maps integrated and functional without the inviso-borders.
User avatar #44 - labree (08/29/2015) [-]
wow dude.
great job automatically assuming i have"nostalgia goggles"
though im pretty sure that in order to need those i would have had to actually play them when they came out. rather then atleast 6 years afterwords. right around the time skyrim came out.

oblivion was a pretty decent fucking game. a decent story, decent combat, decent magic system, and i had no problem with variety.

Morrowind was also pretty decent. yes the hit/miss system could have used some work/been removed. but the story was good, variety was good, and the gameplay was pretty decent.

skyrim was fucking terrible. no one is debating that.

by your logic almost the entire series is shit. which is really rediculous.
#54 - oinos (08/29/2015) [-]
I still loved the mods they came out with shortly after PC release for Morrow.

Well that and binding flame elemental/weapons to rings in Morrow. Ah the shit one cannot do in the later ones. Fire elemental dies, unequip, and re-equip... wham, new fucking elemental. Ring based summon weapon easily snuck past weapon banned zone, even if it breaks in combat, unequip&re-equip, and fresh weapon. lul. Miss that shit. Necklaces of repair stat damage +1, and all stats tell blight virus to fuck itself as PC gets restored to normal stats regardless. XD

Train your endurance at home, the tests are designed to break you, also whenever you are talking to any firefighter try to be as humble as respectfull as posible.
btw does wildland also does pre hospitalary procedures or just puts out fires?

I have already completed my EMT program so i did not look in-depth into the program for any pre-hospital care stuff. however I believe that we will mostly be doing the fire aspects. As far as physical I have been running 3+/- Mi. Every day as well as some circuit training.
User avatar #353 to #352 - guiguito (02/22/2015) [-]
If it's just fire it's easy, just keep training your physical strenght and endurance and memorize the fire classes so you don't throw water into pyropholical metals and make a even bigger fire.

User avatar #299 to #298 - betta (12/22/2013) [-]
Well I did post it like 15 minutes ago. I kinda figured that's what people do. Is that not what people do?

If you mind me asking, what made it red thumb worthy? I'm just curious so I can improve.
User avatar #300 to #299 - guiguito (12/22/2013) [-]
That's not what people do, people give it's contribution to the comunity and keep fapping.
Also i ain't saying it's bad, just that i din't like it. Not that i care, since that's my ******* first thumb in seven months and someone comes to complain at me.
User avatar #301 to #300 - betta (12/22/2013) [-]

Au revoir!

User avatar #302 to #301 - guiguito (12/22/2013) [-]

User avatar #303 to #302 - betta (12/22/2013) [-]

User avatar #274 - redcookiemonster (11/11/2013) [-]
There you go man. Just follow the rules and you should be alright.

Look I realize it sucks, to be honest I'd like funnyjunk to be how it used to be as well, but the fact is, the internet is becoming more restrictive, and since I've been here as long as I have, I want to keep it running. Don't take it personally.
User avatar #275 to #274 - guiguito (11/11/2013) [-]
Since many did exactly what i did, and unlike me with the prupose of spamming, and only i got ip banned, i took it personaly.
Why is it so hard to ip ban annons instead of me.
User avatar #276 to #275 - redcookiemonster (11/11/2013) [-]
Spam banning just recently started to ban IP's I cannot add or subtract time onto a ban, nor can I IP ban.
#277 to #276 - guiguito (11/12/2013) [-]
You see, i was only able to make another account using tor.
User avatar #278 to #277 - redcookiemonster (11/12/2013) [-]
Ah yea I gotcha. I'll talk to admin. Maybe he'll add an option to ban bot users so that regular user spam isn't as harsh a punishment.
#272 - imnotkickthecat (11/10/2013) [-]
Now it is my turn to call you a faggot on your profile.
#279 to #272 - guiguito (11/12/2013) [-]
