They're a couple. They got together at the end of Dragon Ball and lived together for quite a while. I think Toriyama or something mentioned Tien was a little too focused on martial arts so they were "on and off' again for a time but I think the general consensus is that they stay together.

this is the map of vale.

i think the building in the video that's supposed to represent vale is actually beacon.
so either vale is huge, the scales in the video are off or remnant is just a small world after all.

my guess is that vale is really big seeing as there are few place to safely build without grimm interfering so they just build one really big city as opposed to a ton of small weak settlements away from eachother.

My guess is that it's for effect. Putting the big city icon right on the water wouldn't look as nice and thy wanted it to stand out, so they move it in land a bit. Or something like that.
Or maybe Vale is huge, who knows.

Well damn, if Remnant is about the size of Earth, and my guesstimation is correct (probably not), then the city of Vale should be about the size of the Horn of Africa or the Yucatan Peninsula.
