I was told I could do anything, but nobody told me I had to get a degree to do it.

Thats where I could be, but I got hammered by medical issues for the past three years that caused fatigue, mobility issues, and mental functioning issues. Just now getting on the medication I need for the rest of my life, so its getting better, but my GPA is sitting just below a 3.0 when it used to be a 3.5 and needs to be a 3.75 at least. Thank god I have to pad my upper divisions.

Yeah, they are always suddenly "proud of you" when you move out, but did everything to make you feel like piece of shit through your entire growing up process. That does ring a bell for me.

Know how they say a good thing to do to be a leader is to criticize in private, gloat in public?

My mother would do the opposite. She would tell me how terrible I was at school, sports, extra curricular... only spent time on computer and many MANY times called me a loser.

Then she's praise me to her friends saying what an amazing son I was and how mature I was i wasnt how I was the first of my sisters and i to get a job McDonalds while older sister is in a 4 year uni... whooptey doo. and I was so caring. I learned to stop caring what people thought of me and by some god-given miracle a woman who saw through to my very core decided to fight to keep me, and now I am married.

Still hardened me to others, and my social skills, while not the greatest before, are still retarded due to all of that parental love. Depressing shit. Have a funny to lighten your mood.

She criticized you in private and praised you public. Where's that the opposite to what you said in the beginning? I don't understand.

yes. "youre a loser..."

but when her friends were around "oh my son Kulamia is such a good boy, he really makes me proud..."

That's a demotivating and depressing shit thing to do for a mother and I really pity you for that, but still can't see where that contradicts "_Know how they say a good thing to do to be a leader is to criticize in private, gloat in public?
_".

"hey Johnson, i wanted to talk to you about how you messed up earlier, that's why i invited you in my office alone so we could talk."- Alone with subordinant

"Johnson, excellent job earlier, you really went clutch and saved our asses, I want to thank you" -in front of other subordinants

I'm going military but the business world is the same. To make people appreciate you, appreciate them and do it publicly. But to criticize them in front of their peers invites only anger. So you see my mother did the opposite?

That's scary how similar to how my mom divorced from my dad was with me though it could be more common than I know . Between being a full-time student, a volunteer firefighter, and my paramedic apprenticeship, I have little time to do anything but sleep, and I like to think I'm managing because of how critical my mom was of me. Taught me how to be a man, I guess.
