Awesome! How're the aesthetics and overall design of the weapons and armor?

Aesthetics?
The way the weapons and armor look, are very much their own thing. There are, of course, as everyone has been spoiling, a handful of previous items and armor sets. But unlike DS2 which made them feel like just being put there for no reason. They feel foreign, like mysterious things that don't match everything else, giving them this mysterious charm behind them that makes you interested in using them.
One of the newer armors in particular that I really like has layers of tree bark and cloth to give a kind of makeshift camouflage to the enemy I got it from. Making his bow proficency make somewhat sense.

How's the level design and boss design?

Is matchmaking functional?

The level design is amazing, and thing interconnect in ways that are good, as opposed to just convenient. Boss and areas are fucking amazing because there are fewer. Quality over Quantity. That being said, that badass Yhorm the Giant isn't even the halfway boss, let alone the final. And his fight is terrible My only real complaint is that if you want STR weapons you're going to be out of fucking luck. I'm at least halfway and have only found a single weapon for it, and like 30+ for SKL
And yes, matchmaking works perfectly. I've had plenty of summons, summoned in myself, and even fought an invader. Pretty damn good for connecting to Japanese players.

I read the Bioshock book that acted as a prequel, and it was really good. Also read the novelizations of the first 2 MGS games. They were alright.
