What the hell are you talking about? Where do you get your facts from? I am seriously confused. We put BILLIONS into those Green Companies when it shouldn't even be a Government concern. And like I said before, it doesn't have a huge impact on the economy, but it does. It was a stupid investment. Basically every investment is stupid unless it is successful in a Free Market, since a Free Market is the easiest way to tell if an idea was successful or not.

The fact that it's completely experimental and unproven is a HUGE red flag when considering whether or not to put the Taxpayer on the bill for it.

Also we're not running out of oil yet, and the reason it's so expensive is because inflation increasing faster than the increase in real wages and Oil Companies are heavily taxed and regulated (although they also have some Government swing and get a lot back that way).

Also the Military spending was only PART of the problem (Obama hasn't cut back on that very much by the way)

You seem to have a complete misunderstanding on how an Economy grows and why it crashes, and the basic principles of Economics in general.

No way man. Every single one of the Green Energy companies the Government funded went bankrupt. Literally. Every. Single. One. Billions of dollars wasted.

Obama has done the same exact things Bush advocated, except instead of cutting taxes, he's raising them. Which would be a good thing if it was actually cutting the debt but we still have a massive deficit thanks to Obama, Bush, Clinton, and almost every other President starting at Hoover.

What's even the basis for your argument? Do you even know how Bush helped ruin the Economy?
User avatar #197 - gggman (02/28/2014) [-]
Well first off cause its the dumbest thing I ever heard, he raised taxes for eveyone but the higher class, then the famous 9/11 happeneed and he goes and dumps a shit ton of money we didn't need to use in to military. That alone is billions on billions.

And yes it would be good if these green things started early. The only reason they went bankrupt is because it wasn't THAT much put in to them. Mostly because any money we could of used on them was gone with the bush administration. Anyways they're failures becasue they're completely experimental and unproven. Which is why I say that yea, it is stupid that Obama picked NOW to try all this green stuff, but in another time it would've been good. We wouldn't have to worry about buying this expensive as fuck gas and oil thats running out

The President doesn't have that much of an impact on the Economy.

Depressions don't last forever, the market has ups and downs (mostly because Monetary Policy involves inflating asset bubbles that eventually burst and drag the Economy into recession).

The Economy is not even doing that much better. Labor participation is down, inflation is up, businesses are reporting slower growth than everybody is expecting, the entire asset market is a bubble that redistributes wealth to bankers, and prom's tomorrow.

I'll say it again. The market has fluctuations. The Government does NOT make intelligent investments. If they did we wouldn't have such a huge National Debt. No, they destroy wealth and/or redistribute it. It's the only thing they can do.

Look at Obamacare. It's a goddamn joke. I don't know ANYBODY, even the most liberal of my friends, who think the Affordable Care Act has done the Country any good. It's a massive drain.

There are tons more examples, the Green Energy programs, Automobile industry bailouts, extensions on TARP, these are all things Obama has personally helped push forward, and all of them are major failures that put unnecessary strain on the Economy. Obama is basically Bush relabeled as a Democrat and put on steroids.

Government does not run the Economy, people run the Economy. It's made up mostly of investors and consumers, not Politicians and Bureaucrats.
User avatar #190 - gggman (02/28/2014) [-]
IF he was bush on steroids then we WOULD be in another depression. if bush had another term we would be in another depression x2. I know hes stupid for doing it now, but if we did all the eco crap that obama is pushing forward earlier when we could afford it it would've been a greater thing to do.

Yeah. You are born with the ability to hit the notes, it's just that if you don't do training regularly you will not be able to hit those notes for long. Or with enough strength. The same way some people are born with an affinity for an instrument. My friend, who plays guitar amazingly, says that it just makes sense to him. I mean he had training but he definitely has the natural talent. You can improvise like that without the natural talent. Same with singing. You just sort of feel it naturally. Did you even read that I am learning PIANO? Also I'm in a fucking band. I know what it's like that instruments play in perfect harmony. I am not full of myself because I am learning to sing. I just get fucking pissed off when the learning to sing side of it just kind of gets pushed to the side as 'natural talent that takes no effort'. I also want to learn to play guitar because it sound amazing when played by a master like Hendrix and I just want to do half of that. When the fuck did I say that other instruments didn't matter? WHAT? NO ONE WANTS TO PUT EFFORT INTO LEARNING AN INSTRUMENT. Shut the fuck up. The voice is a fucking instrument that is SO difficult to control. You've never tried to learn to sing have you? It's not just like 'hit this note right' which is what you do when playing an instrument. In singing, proper singing it's 'hit this note with power, emotion and force while focus on what your face is doing and try to encapsulate the audience'. Fuck off with the whole 'well everyone just goes to learn to sing'. You know that people can kinda learn guitar and then fake it with little tricks to make themselves sound better? You know that pretty much everyone can learn an instrument, but not everyone can learn to SING. Yeah you can fix it with a computer but it will never be the same as a REAL voice. I am learning to sing at the moment so this just makes me want to scream! I am also learning piano, so I know how hard it is to learn an instrument. But never even talk about how singing doesn't take effort. I am not saying that instruments are easy to learn. But you can cheat an instrument by learning tricks. You can't really do that with singing. Yeah you can learn vocal tricks but they are more so you don't fuck your voice up. Also it's so much easier to define when a singer is good. It's not as easy to tell with anything else. You can show someone the most difficult piano piece ever written and the belt of a soul singer and people will choose the belting singer because it's easier to define to the untrained ear. Yes it's a shame, but those types of shows haven't killed or ruined music.
User avatar #195 - gggman (02/22/2014) [-]
Oh okay I get a passive aggressive response. FUCK YOU YOU PIECE OF SHIT SINGING IS EASY AS FUCK TO DO AND EVEN EASIER TO BE GILDED. Dafuq you talking about people "choose" the singer over anything? I WANT A FUCKING BAND. A HARMONY between guitar, drums, AND singer! (instruments may vary by your choice.) That's why I'm so in to bands like Rush and Led Zeppelin. People hear Robert Plants amazing voice and say "oh he sounds like a girl" or "this sounds like cats on heroine". Who the fuck can hold those notes like him? Who can makes these "random moans and noises" like an instrument to make a good harmony going between ALL of the band members, even the one without an instrument? I NEVER SAID it didn't take effort. You're just so full of yourself trying to learn to sing yourself. You make it sound like singing is everything there. Well it's not. Music isn't a thing of individual Objects. It takes different noises together to make nice music. American idol not only made it worse by glorifying the singers alone, they take mediocre singers and make their voices artificial. Like it's hard to find someone gifted with a voice of angels, It's even more difficult to find someone who can take an inanimate object, become so comfortable with it that it becomes apart of them, then use it to make certain, just right noises that can completely control the way you are feeling at the very moment the music hits you.

he means that singing is a very common talent (which you mostly get by being lucky at which human body you are born into, as you could be born into an ugly afro-american with no culture and no voice, and would never use the internet), and other talents like painting, require practising, UNLIKE singing, which doesnt require any practise, just the luck to have a good voice. morron.
User avatar #193 - mads (02/22/2014) [-]
You know that people aren't born with good voices right? Well like a few people are but not a lot. Also people are born painters and artists. Some people are born with that talent. That's why it's called a fucking talent. Let's take Joss Stone, she is a 25 year old soul singer from Devon england. she has a hell of a voice and was found age 13 on a talent show. Right Ok? So she was born with that talent right? Didn't need practice? However if you listen to her recordings at say 16 and what she records now you can hear that her voice is 1 stronger 2 more sustained and 3 more controlled. Do you know how she did that? VOCAL TRAINING! you can learn to control your voice with practice and VOCAL TRAINING, this idea that people are born with the perfect singing voice fucking pisses me off. Every good singer you have has had VOCAL TRAINING. Also every famous painter you have seen was probably born with the talent to paint, yes they had practice but they are probably naturally talented. So yeah fuck off moron

training your voice:

A) you have a good voice, born with it, you need like 2 or 3 minutes in your whole life to properly train it.( in comparison with example 2)

Example 2 also known as B) training any other thing:

you can spend all your life learning to paint or whatever and you can always become better and have to. And lets not talk about things which require practise, like ballet or fencing(with sword, not sabre or floret, because with sword the whole body is a target) There are thing better than singin in this world. They should be rewarded better. period. .
User avatar #201 - mads (02/22/2014) [-]
Do you think that signers only learn to sing once or twice in their life? Top singers go to their vocal trainers once or twice a week to make sure their voice is top. And when they are alone, at LEAST once a day they oh what's it callled? PRACTICE!

and yeah those talents are rewarded in their respective circles. It just so happens that music (playing an instrument) fits into EVERYONE'S field because music is a universal language.

Yeah but it's still a fucking talent. Also talent shows are looking for something they can sell. They only care if you are so oddball that you will sell.
It just so happens music sells to everyone because it appeals to everyone
User avatar #176 - gggman (02/22/2014) [-]
Unfortunately. Shows like American Idol ruined music with their "singers only" thing they have going. No one wants to take the time and of COURSE not the effort to learn an instrument. That's talent to but everyone focuses on singing. So they go and get a decent voice and end up fixing it up on the computer anyways just to sell. Shame.
User avatar #178 - mads (02/22/2014) [-]
User avatar #200 - mads (02/22/2014) [-]
Did you even read that I am learning PIANO? Also I'm in a fucking band. I know what it's like that instruments play in perfect harmony. I am not full of myself because I am learning to sing. I just get fucking pissed off when the learning to sing side of it just kind of gets pushed to the side as 'natural talent that takes no effort'. I also want to learn to play guitar because it sound amazing when played by a master like Hendrix and I just want to do half of that. When the fuck did I say that other instruments didn't matter? I was just responding to your point that singing took little effort.
User avatar #203 - gggman (02/22/2014) [-]
You defended talent shows for taking in "singers" when 98% of the people they've given fame to are terrible singers. And defending that show got me to talk about how that very show has glorified singing more then anything else. And it's utter bullshit.
User avatar #204 - mads (02/22/2014) [-]
I completely agree that it's utter bullshit that they take shit singers and make them famous. But that's not what I am talking about. I am talking about SINGERS, People like Etta James, Patti Labelle, Freddie Mercury, Patrick Stump, Tom Jones, Robert Plants. Even Lady Gaga has an amazing voice, just sad she ignores the style her voice fits.
But it doesn't mean that singing should be pushed down because it's something that is focused on at the moment. But the people who win those talent shows normally aren't actual singers, they are people who can hit enough notes to sell records. They are not singers
User avatar #205 - gggman (02/22/2014) [-]
Nooow you sound like another intelligent. You're DAMN RIGHT they ain't no singers. No one rings down a real true voice, a voice of the gods is ALWAYS enjoyed.
User avatar #208 - mads (02/22/2014) [-]
Thanks it just pisses me off when people say singing doesn't take effort and that you are born with that talent/skill. I feel like more people should know what level of practice it takes to be able to sing properly.
User avatar #209 - gggman (02/22/2014) [-]
In some cases, it is just something you're born with though to be honest. It's kind of like being born with a super power. but they need to learn to focus and control it, with the vocal training you know?
User avatar #210 - mads (02/22/2014) [-]
The only reason i am having vocal training is because enough people told me I have a good natural voice which I need training to focus it.
User avatar #213 - gggman (02/22/2014) [-]
