I actually think we should default. It's about time they see what uncontrolled spending creates. Get rid of the un-necessary.

A lot of fat needs to be cut from the budget, sure, but if they default, it screws over the citizens a hell of a lot more than it does anything to them. Thousands of people losing a paycheck and the US losing half of it's government institutions is not in any way worth them learning a lesson.

You're right that it may not be the best way, but its long over due. We don't need all these harmful welfare programs which consumes almost half of the federal budget, we don't need all this extravagant military budget fighting needless wars, we don't need all this foreign aid, we don't need subsidies, we don't need unsuccessful federal education programs, we don't need most of government spending. All this harms the taxpayer, which only harms everyone. Get rid of un-successful government and the well-being of every citizen will improve drastically.

You have to remember that the power of the House is to create funding bills, so it is Constitutionally their right and job. Nothing illegal here. To make things worse, health insurance is forced down on us. If you don't have health care you are fined. How's that for a free country?
#224 - gewehr (10/16/2013) [-]
I'm not saying they can't do it, or that it's illegal, and I don't think Obamacare is a good thing, but what will happen to our country if we default on our debt is a hell of a lot worse than what Obamacare will do.

I agree with you on that. It shouldn't be used as a hostage.

I get why it's happening, despite the fact that it Shouldn't be a bargaining chip, it is a powerful one. Whichever side caves first is going to lose a lot of ground, but this is not the time for it. In my eyes whoever gives up is the better group, because they will have realized that our country not falling apart is more important than fighting about Obamacare. This should be obvious to anyone in the government, but obviously it's not.

While this post does feel like it was written by a 14 year old with no concrete understanding of the system, not everyone on Funnyjunk is a stupid kid. The site has been around for a long time, and is a place an intelligent discussion can be found. The only one I see acting like a child around here is you.

Fairly sure Soldering wire is not that thick either.

far more closely resembles a brush on paint or photoshop than wire, especially since the letters have rounded edges, whereas they would have to be perfectly straight when they are cut from the roll.

I've had an x-ray, the only make you take off an item of clothing with metal pieces on it, like jeans with buttons or a belt with metal loop.

Also, if you look at the pieces of wire, they definitely are folded in a way that would be hand-folded and not by computer or drawn on.

It might not be legit, but I see no reason other than your own (doubt in FJ) to disbelieve it.

This is a deeper discussion - please read... but only when you're in the mood.

First: I know what you mean - my comment did sound dramatic. I don't usually try to dramatize my comments, but it intentionally did there because of the gravity of the situation that the U.S. is in nowadays.

That's just to say: I wasn't posting to try to be edgy in an attention-whore-ish kind of way... I just like to post penetrating comments, and a little drama sometimes helps that.

Second: I'm quite disturbed by these two comments: "...soundy edgy and anarchist." and "...yes it pisses me off, but no leadership will just create chaos."

The first part indicates that you do not consider Anarchism to be a legitimate Social System, because (you imply) that it is invoked for the sole purpose of being 'edgy'.

The second part illuminates a significant misunderstanding on your part about Anarchism, as you indicate that "Leaders" are the sole thing somehow keeping "Chaos" at bay.

It has only been within the past two months the I've finally understood what "Good" Anarchism actually stands for, and here is my understanding:

- 'Society', at its simplest, is when people interact in a nonviolent fashion. That could be as little as two nomads meeting in the desert, or as big as a Nation City-State of millions.
- Some people might choose to put 'Rules' on their interactions with others, and will weigh the cost of distancing themselves from others (relocation, smaller society) with the benefits (being around like-minded people).
- If all the sudden, the opinion of everyone around you changes, and they put in a rule you don't agree with, you have the choice to move away from that body of people.

There is no 'Government'.... because nobody is being 'Governed' by another Man, but rather by the dictates of their own conscience.

Therefore, i expressly disagree with you - It is Consensus, not Leaders, that are the basis of 'Society'.

(One more important point, if you want to discuss).

Anarchism is a valid idea, but it will never see success in a large society. Let's say we wiped the slate clean and got rid of all forms of governance and authority in the United States, from Govt. to Police, etc. It could work in a small society, but in a large one there will always be bad people that do bad things, and inevitably, within a few months some form of law will slowly come back until we get to the point we are at now. That or the country falls apart and goes into a full scale meltdown.
