I'm glad you broke it. I mean holy shit, I understand the morbid attraction we have to death, but who would be DISAPPOINTED that someone didn't die?

Or everyone could have a proper wage and keep the tips they've received.

It never has worked that way in the states really. It would be a hard change to enforce and it would indeed force them to raise the cost of food by the 15% that people normally tip. Either that or they collect the tips so they still turn their full profit. If they increase the prices then ppl will be less likely to tip. All in all the amount earned would be the same, you would be paying the same amount. This way people feel like they are doing a good deed though. Its all in the mind really

And then they get fired, because the service industry is high turn over and companies would rather fire some-one who sucks and hire some-one decent than deal with pissed off customers.

Like every other country. Why do you twats think that you have some sort of special insight. You don't.

McDickFace is going to get fired pretty fast if the management notices that he's not working hard enough, because the management is now paying McDickFace more and expecting more out of it.
Being paid a reasonable wage would mean McDickFace would get fired for not living up to the standard and you'd still get tips if you were really exceptional.

Making tipping mandatory removes the "reward" part of it. If you dont do it, people think you're stingy, poor, sleezy, scum, etc. If you do it, it's expected and it's only a "reward" if it's above the expected minimum.

It's not a reward, if you think it is mandatory.

A reward is supposed to be something special, not something you get, because it is a common thing.
You know how tipping should work?
Servers get paid enough to live on, not luxury, but enough to get food on the table and an apartment to live in. Any bonus they get is due to hard fucking work and being able to go up and beyond the required service. Not because they are average at their job.
#259 - anon (09/22/2016) [-]
Wasn't there some sort of study done where great service was generally only tipped 5% more than bad service?

How about this reward: Not losing your fucking job.

As someone living in a country where tips aren't a thing.. That argument is fucking bullshit, you get fine service
Because if you're a shit waiter you get fired

I mean, getting paid a decent wage seems like a pretty good reward to me.

Ok, so lets say you are an amazing waiter/waitress right you do everything you can for the customers. You get a 20 dollar tip. Now your co-worker Dick McDickface, ignores his tables, grudgingly refills drinks, and gets a 2 dollar tip. Now youve earned 20 dollars on top of the pay, and dickface has earned 2 dollars. on top. Now these companies cannot pay you less than 8.10 an hour (well thats minimum were i live) but obviously that guy isnt going to have a job for to long if he keeps acting that way. But if all tips are just kinda stuck together and divided evenly now you get 11 dollars instead of the 20 you earned and Dickface gets 11 which is 9 dollars more than he desereves.

A lot of young animals (including humans, y'know?) usually know when they are in a dangerous location and if they don't it's usually because they weren't taught by their parent / someone that "this area" is "bad". In that way, does Darwin Award kinda like... "succeed" down to their children in the way they are their genetic future and it wasn't taught?

saw a kid the other day think it was funny for running out into the street and did it in front of cars a few times to scare the dad.
caused a car to screech to a hault once, but id never blame the driver for that kid dying.
Because we got to see only the most interesting moments not the most useful id say this lady is contingently a cunt but more likely short and the kids are sitting making it hard for her to see.
im 6,3 if i run over a sitting kid, arrest me.
#23 - masterreposter (09/19/2016) [-]
You should know by that age not to play around where cars are. My nephews knew by age 4 not to. Because we told them not to for that exact reason, not to get hit by a car. Her fault for not looking, their fault for sitting there
