The thing about digital data is that once the power is gone, the data is inaccessible. Once the machine is run down enough, the data is lost.
A large chunk of our history as a species was lost when Ghengis Khan burned down the Great Library of Alexandria. It's not that hard to believe that a thousand years from now, most of our digital information we have today could be lost entirely.
There are plenty of things we can't understand about our past and how they accomplished things. The Egyptians not only built pyramids, but also built modern aircraft and had a strange form of electricity. The only conclusive information that remains from that far back was written in stone however, so how they created such things when they appeared to be so far behind us in technology is beyond us to the point where people genuinely believe aliens did it all.

The reason we can't understand the past now is because back then, the amount of recorded data was miniscule by today's standards, and the data that was shared was even more small (not even taking into account that written data was either stuck where it was written or had to be personally transferred via human, bird, river, etc). Then the data that these civilizations did record was rarely shared to other civilizations (some being impossible like Egyptian religious practices being shared with Native Americans).
The rate at which we generate, share, and store data in our current society is too great to create a scenario where a future civilization of humans would not be able to use a search engine to find out what Funnyjunk used to be who am I kidding, Funnyjunk will totally live forever... right?
However, if some major societal collapse like a mass extinction event or a large scale nuclear war, we could lose a vast amount of the data from the era the event happened in and everything before it; so it's not impossible, just unlikely. the super volcano in Yosemite totally isn't way overdue or anything
tl;dr It's more likely that we will keep our recorded data from now on, than we will lose it.

I'm not saying its very likely, just that it could happen.
Also we make a lot of assumptions about how older civilizations kept recorded information since there aren't very many paper documents left from that time period. They could have had any number of ways of storing information aside from what we've found today, but over the millenia it degraded and was lost to us.

The probability of current civilization surviving for 1000 more years is very small (IMHO). Humanity, in some intellectually advanced although technologically poor state, quite good.
The Colosseum was built just about 2000 years ago, and maintained for about 600 years. That solid stone is now a tumbling mess. If/when society fails and natural begins the inevitable decay, small QR code stickers/ engravings, with intricate detail will not last long, at least not in an identifiable or usable state.
