I could totally make some money off that, but yeah, alcohol makes everything easier, it really does, it just doesnt make quitting alcohol easier which is the dumbest part, I dont really want my ex back, I dont give a shit about my job or anything else, I just wanna quit because I dont really have enough money to keep the habit up, is that a bad thing

Maybe it seems easier, but it causes problems of it's own too. Using it as the go-to solution for bad feelings just makes you not have to learn how to cope in healthier ways. It makes you reliant on it.

and I don't think your reasons for wanting to quit matter much as long as it pushes you to be successful in quitting.

yeah I know, cold turkey is good for sandwiches (heh) but, that shits hard, me and my dad got laid off from our jobs recently, we lost our truck, I lost my dog, I lost my girlfriend, life sucks right now and alcohol is the only thing that makes it better, quitting isn't exactly the best thing to think about right now, tldr life sucks

I'm not gonna lie, that sounds like a country song.

Is it really better though? You're literally talking to me here about how unhappy it's making you. You and I both know this band aid solution of numbing it with alcohol isn't working.

It'll be hard to quit, and the easy way looks so enticing, but it doesn't lead you anywhere. It's just a circle of denial to try and justify being an alcoholic and when does it end? Possibly when it's far too late to do something about it? Or right now? You could wake up tomorrow morning, get this Joshua a new sandwich, call your ex and tell her you realize how much this is hurting the people you care about and you want to quit this, and then every time you want to buy alcohol, do the math on how much money that'll take, and put that cash into your savings instead.

I've been trying, recently I switched from hard liquor to beer and its been helping, but then again all I do is drunk a fuck ton of beer to make up for it, its harder than it seems and my ex has been helping me a lot with it, but she gave up on me and well that makes me feel like shit
User avatar #14 - flemsdfer (10 hours ago) [-]
That doesn't sound like a good solution. You're still trying to get drunk that way, and that's the true problem. You may want to just try going without. Moderation usually doesn't work for alcoholics, but instead makes a slippery slope to going back into it again.
