you're still in the wrong, though, since you phrased your statement as a contradiction to harrykintz's post. He said falling coins can't kill anybody, making the 4chan story bullshit, and you said "actually, even small coins dropped from really high up can cause a surprising amount of damage". Which, they really can't, the terminal velocity of any coin or at least any of the actual currency coins, you could still hurt somebody if you had some stupid novelty coin the size of your fist and the mass of the coin is nowhere near enough to cause more than an annoyance or, at the worst, a small bruise.

So, saying they can cause "a surprising amount of damage" is dumb, since A.) it implies that you think the coin can kill somebody, since you're contradicting a post that said they can't, and B.) I wouldn't call a small bruise from a coin dropped of a building and landing on your head "a surprising amount of damage".

What if you sharpened the edges, threw it with a spiral and someone was looking up and it hit them right in the neck!
#121 - anon (07/27/2016) [-]
Sharpened edges, sure. But even if you threw it it would slow down to terminal velocity due to wind resistance.

The throw isnt about adding speed, its about adding rotation so the edge remains facing downward... rotational velocity should be largely unaffected by wind since the face of the coin doesn't stick out very much
