If you are extremely confident in your LoS skill shots you can try these heroes.
"Skill shot" based hero have generally high skill cap.

Mirana (ashe arrow on a short cool down, 5sec stun at max range) stun arrow does NOT ignore minions. hard to adapt to last hit, squishy as hell. long cool downs, doesn't scale well into late game compared to other agi carries.

Pudge (blitz crank hook but 3 times the range, can hook allies away from certain death) melee, extremely low mana pool, needs to snowball, prone to flame.

Clockwerk (thresh hook but range is half the map when maxed), characteristics similar to pudge.
#70 - revytram (01/15/2015) [-]
Landing skill shots aren't exactly hard in this game, since everyone doesn't come with a dash/flash/jump.

Try heros that are easy to play first, such as Wraith king, Sniper, sven, lion, etc...

THE most important thing that you can actively try to master in DotA is positioning. One misstep against a stronger opponent and you're dead.

Pros can play w/e hero they want and do better than most people because they have an absurd amount of game sense/map awareness. This is where LoL players (from what I've seen) failed to adapt. In league, unless the enemy is tf/panth/noc/shen. or carry teleport. They WILL remain where they are for a period of time. In DotA you need to pay explicit attention to the minimap, because they can potentially assist/counter a gank in 3 seconds from anywhere around the map.

My advice, keep playing. Play obscene amount of games and know what each of the hero can do. It's perfectly fine to play random, all hero is viable in solo q as long as you know your shit.

Feel free to ask me more questions, im bored out of my mind right now.

Not exactly much else to say that everyone else hasn't said already, but...

Try to make sure to always have one eye on the mini map. While you can ask your team for help, you can't always rely on them to call missing especially if the enemy team uses teleport scrolls to get up to your lane quickly. If you see someone missing for more than a few moments, warn your lane partner as you back up.

Pathing sucks. Click quickly and consistently to make sure you're going in the right direction and that your character isn't spinning around. Biggest fault with Dota, in my opinion, is how bad the pathing is.

Learn ward locations. The most common is beside the runes in the river. Always try to place a ward on a cliff if you can, because they can't see up cliffs. Sentry wards are different though, they reveal invisible units up and down cliffs in their area.

The most important thing is to learn the character's rules and what you can expect. Easy one: Timbersaw. His W is a 'chain' that grabs onto trees and pulls him towards it, doing damage to anything he passes. If he doesn't hit a tree, he doesn't move and thus does no damage. Also, if you stun him as he starts to move from the chain, he'll stop. Stay away from trees when fighting him.

Really big thing to learn is almost no spells are the same on each character, even the ones that seem to be the same spell. Nyx and Lion have a stun that hits things in a line and are basically the same thing function wise, but Nyx can't target an enemy hero with his. He has to target the ground with it. Lion and Lina have similar ults, a single target burst, but Lina's does less damage, costs less mana, and her Agh's upgrade makes it do 'Pure' damage. This makes it go through magic immunity or high magic resistance.

Lion's Agh's makes his ult hit every unit in an area around the unit he targets, but can't go through magic immunity or resistance.

All in all... Just play to have fun. Things to learn in both games and I hope this helped.

Start on an easy carry if you know how to farm:
(Wraith King, viper, juggernaut) are all pretty simple
Start on an easy support if you're typically a support player
(Vengeful Spirit, Lion, and Lina are all pretty simple and not terribly prone to feed Except VS but with her it's not terrible )

Turn speeds are a thing, pulling is important for supports, STACK JUNGLE CAMPS this is more advanced but if you have a carry that has high creep clear power like Luna, sven, terrorblade, juggernaut, carry TP's that shit's important. Creeps and towers do significantly more damage to my knowledge than league versions don't dive so quickly unless you have friendly creeps to tank the tower. Blink dagger OP get it on any support that has it recommended asap especially Earthshaker, lion, and rubick If you see an enemy tidehunter get picked make sure you're spread out. Ditto to earthshaker. Dust is important versus invis. So are sentry wards.

Enjoy getting flamed

Apart from what Woote said, here's some extra tips:

1.) Don't tell people you're a LOL player, they hate that.
2.) Characters have turn times, it isn't instant (With the exception of Io, or Wisp)
3.) Ask your team for help, don't try and tough it out
4.) Get used to hearing pings everywhere
5.) I believe items tend to have a lot more active affects that you have to manually press than LoL (I could be mistaken, so take that with a grain of salt)
6.) Know what character your playing because it really can swing team fights if you fuck up even once

It's unforgiving, but with time, you'll have fun.
User avatar #65 - woote (01/15/2015) [-]
1. Play cautiously. You die a lot more quickly.
2. Don't start with Meepo or Invoker.
3. Don't play on Russian servers if you can help it.
4. There are many extra mechanics (e.g. denying your own creeps, Aghanim's Scepter, etc.)
5. No recall button. You have to but TP scrolls. (Always try to carry one.)
6. Riki is a piece of shit.

Now you know how to play DotA 2.

Since you may find the actual simply 'Fire Emblem' (Game #1) instead of game #6, this one's official title is Fire Emblem: Rekka no Ken, but it was the first Fire Emblem to be released in the West so they just called it Fire Emblem.
User avatar #25 - rejakted (01/13/2015) [-]
Okay, I'ma need the playing order too then of all up the games released not for the DS and 3DS.
User avatar #26 - emiyashirou (01/13/2015) [-]
Some of them aren't translated, but I'll name them anyway

Shadow Dragon, Gaiden, Mystery of the Emblem, Awakening for 3DS follow on each other.

Rekka no Ken and Fuuin no Tsurugi are prequel and sequel. The sequel (fuuin no tsurugi) released first, make of that what you will for playing order.

Radiant Dawn is the sequel to Path of Radiance, then there's Thracia and Sacred Stones. I'm not completely sure where Thracia fits in, but Sacred Stones is stand-alone.
User avatar #28 - rejakted (01/13/2015) [-]
Okay, cool. I guess I'll go for Fuuin no Tsurugi as my first Fire Emblem game. Gonna go finish Gods Eater Burst 2 now.
Danke.
