As far as I know, it is a normal military technique. You have an potentialy enemy who is surrendering and needs help, so you let one guy threaten him, while another helps him. So you can help him, and If he trys any shananigans, you shoot him.
If I recall correctly, the isralelis used it for the first time, because the had often children on the streets who were used as bait to distract the oldiers. so they startet to help the children while also taking them hostage.

I think last time this picture was posted someone mentioned that it's just perspective, the gun isn't actually pointed at him at all, the person on the left is in fact not the one holding the gun, it's someone behind him and it's not actually pointed at the individual, it's pointing at the ground. Could be wrong though.

I have no idea what the context of the photo is. Maybe they're forcing him to drink after he refused. Or they're making sure he doesn't try anything while drinking. It could even be a photo set up for the purpose of explaining how things are manipulated. I'd put my money on the third.

Usually the question is if you would sacrifice many people you don't know, or one single that you do.
Could also be seen as a moral dilemma in that you're making an active choice to kill a person (instead of remaining passive) to save 5 others.
Either that or it's just a test to see if you hate people.

A utilitarian view asserts that it is obligatory to steer to the track with one man on it. According to simple utilitarianism, such a decision would be not only permissible, but, morally speaking, the better option (the other option being no action at all). An alternate viewpoint is that since moral wrongs are already in place in the situation, moving to another track constitutes a participation in the moral wrong, making one partially responsible for the death when otherwise no one would be responsible.
