Okay, Fantasy is good. What do you count as "War-Books"? Books about the History of War , historical Wars, etc?

Raymond Feist - The serpentwar saga

George. R. R. Martin - A song of Ice and Fire

Terry Goodkind - The Sword of Truth

All series and all pretty good.

i`ve read all of terry goodkind`s books and i`m watching game of thrones (dont want to ruin the show so will wait to read the books) and thinking of reading feists works is he similar to goodkind?
User avatar
#67710 - liffian (02/06/2013) [-]
Feist's is very similar to George RR Martin's. He introduces less characters but the follows a similar context. I definitely recommend you start with the serpentwar saga. The best in my personal opinion

I´ve only read the Song of Ice and Fire, wanted to read Terry Goodkind, but I just can´t afford starting a new series right now. University is fucking expensive.D
User avatar
#67418 - liffian (02/03/2013) [-]
The first 3 are pretty brilliant, after that it's a bit touch and go. The author has a tendency to base the books around a certain moral value he thinks of while writing.

ha, I meant the Terry Goodkind books =]

As for the Song of Ice and Fire, I've read all the books and started the series. I'm having some major withdrawal symptoms and the next book isn't until Summer 2014
User avatar
#67421 - ljxjlos (02/03/2013) [-]
Ah, okay, then sorry.D
I´ve got the withdrawal-Problem with "Wheel of time"...do you know that series? By Rober Jordan and now Brandon Sanderson (Jordan passed away, sadly)

Oh yeah, I promise. I was really undecided on what to think of those Books, because of the Over-the-Top-Clichée-Bookcovers, I was afraid, it was some cheesy blonde-Knight-in-White-Armour-Romance-Bullshit without draft, and in the end I got that amazing Piece of an Epos. I really, really love the Series, enjoy it.D
User avatar
#67591 - mllerayael (02/05/2013) [-]
same to be honest thats what always holding me back with feist`s stuff the cover just looks so...boring and run of the mill
User avatar
#67592 - ljxjlos (02/05/2013) [-]
Feist´s Stuff? Sorry, what do you mean by that? My Brains a bit off, right now:D
But really, those Covers are just the worst Thing that could happen to Books like those, I´m sure, at least 20% more People would have read the Books without them:D

#67593 - mllerayael (02/05/2013) [-]
raymond feist :) true but then again there are some really good covers out there like shadow on the glass has a beautiful cover (if a little typical)

#67595 - ljxjlos (02/05/2013) [-]
Ah. Okay, did he paint the covers? Shadow of the Glass does Ring a Bell, but I don´t think, I´ve read it before...

I do not, but I do need a new series. Is this one another 'swords and sandles' style book?
User avatar
#67423 - ljxjlos (02/03/2013) [-]
Well, let´s put it like this. It is. In the Beginning, it seems pretty simple, but as you get further in, it get´s more complex, involves Religion and Politics on great Scale, Science, too...It is honestly amazing, don´t get scared of the extremely, extremly bad, ugly and embarrasing Covers (Honestly, the Artist should be behaded) and the amount of Books 36, right now, I think, it´s one of the few Series, that has Quality as well as Quantity.
User avatar
#67424 - liffian (02/03/2013) [-]
A book that's heavily involved in politics and religion? Gotta admit, you're not selling it to me here.
User avatar
#67425 - ljxjlos (02/03/2013) [-]
Hey, hey, hey, wait.D
I´m completely, and I mean, 105 %, bored by Politics (Gotta admit, I enjoy reading about Religion, though), but that Book makes it so, so amazingly good, you can´t stop reading, even if you hate those subjects, normally!
User avatar
#67426 - liffian (02/03/2013) [-]
alright, let me consult my kindle. It all depends on price =)

you're not the only one with financial issues haha
User avatar
#67427 - ljxjlos (02/03/2013) [-]
Kindle? Nuuuuuh!

Okay, I won´t start that talk again. I prefer real Books, all the way:D
User avatar
#67428 - liffian (02/03/2013) [-]
It was a birthday present and there are two sides to a coin.

You can not beat a real book, it will win hands down between the two. But the kindle is a portable library with books on the go and takes up a ton less space, plus there are cheaper prices due to the lack of paper needed and the quality is always going to be the same,

It's the first "book" I've ever had that runs on battery life though.
User avatar
#67429 - ljxjlos (02/03/2013) [-]
Well, I see that, especially in the Holidays, it´s better, but I just love having my Books in my Shelter, to look through them:D

Not my style of music, but:

The Devil Wears Prada, All That Remains, August Burns Red, BMTH, A7X (Waking the Fallen era), Asking Alexandria, Blessthefall, Escape the Fate, Falling in Reverse, A Day to Remember, As I Lay Dying, Trivium, In This Moment... etc.

You´ll probably going to get thumbed down for this...It´s absolutely not my kind of Music, but I gotta say, Some Suicide Silence and BmfV-Songs are part of my guilty Pleasures. Seeing that you like Core, you might try Callejon (especially Zombiefied is an amazing Song), Heaven Shall Burn (Endzeit, Black Tears) or something like this.
