It's not just the government in Greece fucking things up. The people of Greece deserve just as much blame.

#255 - jamestitkov (07/09/2015) [-]
I repeat: illegal taxes. They were tailor-made to be unpayable, and an excuse for the government to whine and place the blame for the damage it caused on the citizens. You need to stop blindly believing whatever you're told, the Greek people are not some magical tax-evading species. Read #75 too.
#259 - mrsexmuffins (07/09/2015) [-]
The taxes may have been illegal, but they were rightfully put in place. It's better to work around a few laws than to have your entire country crumble around you, but wait, all the tax evaders made that happen anyways.
And to your second statement, it's not blindly believing something when there are multiple studies for public view that show just how lazy the Greek people are.
#262 - jamestitkov (07/09/2015) [-]
No, the taxes were (for the third time) literally impossible to pay. They weren't there to improve anything, they only served to strangle the economy and scare people away from making the slightest investment or endeavor, and as I said, to turn the people into a scapegoat for the destruction wrought by the government.
Also, as I wrote to the other guy, your accusations of laziness are just retarded in the face of a simple google search that shows Greece having some of the longest work hours in Europe. And I'm not even going into how many people work multiple jobs just to make ends meet, or how voluntary work is so widespread that the government has tried to take advantage of it many times.

Please tell me how it is fair that poorer countries in Europe have to pay to keep pensions flowing (which you get at age 50 or something, which is crazy!!) in the much richer Greece. Also its very easy to put everything on the plate of the government. The government is the agent of the citizens, you guys elected them to represent you and yea maybe you chose poorly but in a way that's your fault.
#403 - jamestitkov (07/09/2015) [-]
No, we don't get pensions at 50, stop believing everything you read on the internet. Those governments you speak of chose to do so, just like they chose to accept Greece into the EU when they knew that the Greek people didn't want that, and were tricked into it by the government. You need to read #84 too.
#405 - anon (07/09/2015) [-]
ok, not 50, but not 67 like here in western Europe. I know you guys have it tough and i really feel for ya. Also i don't blame the Greek personally but its frustrating for people over here. Here in the Netherlands people are disciplined, hard workers and tax payers and we have strong financial discipline. Its frustrating to know that we have to pay the bill because your government fucked op for the past decades.
#407 - anon (07/09/2015) [-]
We're the ones who hate our government's fuckups the most.
#371 - internetexplain (07/09/2015) [-]
In Germany on the other hand , companies HAVE to cut out more and more working hours , because people are working so ridiculously hard that a normal week of 40 working hours is causing wide-spread burn-out.
Companies demand the work output to be increased by almost 7% every year , and we get that done , but since ever increasing work at the same hours just doesn't work , we have to cut hours.
If you don't work , you can work longer , it's that fucking simple , that's why you have the longest working hours in Europe , because you're lazy shits.
#370 - internetexplain (07/09/2015) [-]
>muh longest working hours
yet your economy is shit , always was shit , and is causing the rest of us to go to shit.
And you wanna know why that is? working time =/= working
I can have a desk job , sit there all day , even make 5 hours over time , and literally do nothing , now I worked longer than anyone else in the company , but didn't even get a fraction of the shit done that everyone else did.
#429 - internetexplain (07/09/2015) [-]
>"b-but you work but you dont actually work"
Yeah that isn't an argument , and most importantly , I never made that argument.
Nice strawmanning there faggot.
In both cases I said you're lazy shit , I never said you don't work , but working isn't an excuse for laziness , as I said , you can sit in an office 12 hours a day and do less shit than someone who's been there for 10 minutes , it's still working , but you're still a lazy cunt.
#436 - jamestitkov (07/09/2015) [-]
That's exactly what you said. When someone works, he works. Especially when he's working multiple jobs, if he wasn't doing work he'd get fired. Where's your proof for the opposite?
Your childish accusations of laziness are worthless, you're just spitting your unconvincing poison because you read somewhere that Greeks are lazy and you don't want to feel like the idiot you are for buying it.
#127 - anon (07/09/2015) [-]
A common mistake. Same with people bashing the U.S. Most of the time, the problem is the government
#39 - saintlich (07/08/2015) [-]
Fuck corrupt politicians. Greece people just got in a lazy habit and had no one kick them in the ass to tell them otherwise. Best just to learn a lesson that corrupt politicians make your whole country look bad and they will ruin them. I pray for the UK with the tax evading David Cameron in charge and USA with the shit ton of shit choices and Hillary, another tax avoider, being too popular
#200 - AnomynousUser (07/09/2015) [-]
Hillary actually has a chance of winning solely because she's a woman and that makes me ashamed to be an American.
We have large percentages of Americans who will vote for her not knowing her history, what she stands for, etc. She will get voted in solely because she's a woman. People voted in Obama solely because he's black and since he's a democrat who gave out his "Obama bucks"
#209 - AnomynousUser (07/09/2015) [-]
I refuse to vote a socialist into presidency, especially since leftist liberal policies won't get us out of our problems, but it's not like my vote even matters in the least. And if I have to choose the shinier of the two shits, I guess Sanders would be better.
Idk how you do it wherever you are, but we have the electoral college - the outdated, inefficient, unrepresentative, and obsolete method of voting. But hey, if each citizen's vote actually mattered, candidates wouldn't just focus on 11 states (the amount you need to win), and would actually enact policies for the general public of the country. That would be so terrible!
Here's a very helpful video that explains how stupid our system is. Our votes are basically just things that tell a few people what we want them to do - they can (and have before) voted differently than we wanted them to. And Florida always fucks up elections. Always.
I always found it weird how the "popular vote" wasn't what decided our president until I discovered the electoral college system.
