But I've always liked vanilla, where it's plain to see that both the guy and the girl are enjoying themselves. So unless that makes me a closet homosexual, that argument doesn't make sense to me.

Well, that's when you identify as the guy. Which means you aren't fapping to the guy, you're fapping as him.

I don't claim that Subaru has not suffered "mental damage" because I'm suffering mental damage reading your post lol.

The thing is that he hasn't really suffered that much, especially compared to other fantasy protagonist who generally have a couple major losses.

I'm saying a realistic human would adapt to an ability he possesses.

Subaru goes insane? Please. Subaru's a hotblooded hero atm, if he actually went insane it wouldn't take the course of half a day to get him back.

Subaru acting as a hotblooded hero is a front he puts up, he's mentally fucked up and mostly just acting on the drive of his hatred of Beetlejuice and himself as well as his very strong 'love' towards Emilia. I put it in quotes because it isn't actually love, but that's not really relevant to the point, since at this point he thinks it's love at the moment. While the anime does not make this as clear, it's fairly obvious from episode 18.

Technically yes, but Subaru (and thus the reader) only gets informed of this in arc 4. The anime most likely isn't going to even finish arc 3, there's too much content still remaining in the arc to cover in just 4 eps unless they rush through it at a pace more disgusting than episodes 12 and 13.

Because the intended effect of torture is suffering, usually for a goal.

Comparing that (which btw, the whole "by your argument then this" thing is such an overused fallacy at this point, still amazed you even bothered with it. You're taking something completely different and comparing because you lack of ability to address to a original) to very temporary wounds with no intended effect of suffering is just missing the whole point of torturing.

What you're missing is the "torturer."

The events being erased does erase the physical damage and any finality of an event that would cause mental damage.

Basically, let's say you are at a bypass. Road A and Road B.

You take Road A. All your friends/family die, you die as well.

Well lucky you, you get to reset the events to take Road B.
----------------
But you still suffered right? You still experienced loss, right?

Except none of that actually happened. Repeat this till you realize this power is 10x better than living life normally because even though you experience pain, you get to live in the "perfect route" each time.

Also, 'missing the torturer' doesn't mean shit.

If you claim that Subaru should not have suffered any mental damage because there are no lasting effects from what happens to him, then my comparison of being waterboarded is perfectly valid, because other than the mental damage there is no lasting effect on the person.

So you're saying that a realistic human would not suffer mental trauma, because if he dies which, by the way, Subaru repeatedly states is the most painful thing he can imagine. The feeling of loss he feels when his life drains away is, in his view, far more traumatising than even having his heart crushed when he breaks the taboo the event MIGHT (Subaru doesn't know how his ability works. For all he knows any time he dies might be his last) get turned back in time?

Subaru literally goes insane from the mental trauma he suffers.
