Really? You're focusing on that? He should have used the vocative declension! But you're not whining about that!

Pic related: he should have written ROMANES EVNT DONVM because U wasn't invented yet, therefore he made a grammar mistake

You said to correct you so here you go:
No, it is not infinity, what you are thinking of is if you ended up with 0 = 0 which would mean there are infinitely many solutions. But 0 = 8 means there are actually no solutions.
It is like saying potatoes = carrots. They do not, and never will, no matter how many there are
I'm going to sleep now

Just to play math doctor, amegaara and edwardtrollington :

The reason "infinity" usually isn't accepted as an answer is because the extended reals don't have a nice algebraic structure. From the same page: "With these definitions R is not a field, nor a ring, and not even a group or semigroup." These are useful structures in mathematics, but the lack of the structure doesn't make them useless. So, positive or negative infinity are solutions to x+2=x in the extended reals. What amegaara posted isn't a contradiction because infinity-infinity is meaningless as it is a statement disallowed in the extended reals (due to the lack of certain types of structure!).

But don't take my word for it, it's right there in the wiki page and is a matter of definition.

Infinity is not a number. Also, infinity plus 2 equals infinity(+2). This question doesn't have an answer.
User avatar #158 - coolcalx (01/01/2014) [-]
because infinity is a concept, and not a number, infinity + 2 is still infinity. it's the exact same infinity (keep in mind, there are various levels of infinity, as you'll learn if you study the cardinality of the continuum).

the answer is not infinity, but not because of your second explanation
User avatar #4 - amegaara (12/31/2013) [-]
nope it cant be but good thinking

it cant be because:
if you assume that y = 00 (infinity)
than you can say that 2 = 00 - 00 (put both y's in one area)

and that is simply wrong

I want to be an English Teacher, Because:
1: Not much else you can do with an English Diploma, other than Write, and that doesn't do much for the whole "I need to feed myself and family"
2: I love kids, seriously, they are one of my favorite kind of people, right next to Dogs, cause Dogs are the shit, man
3: I want Graphic Novels to be treated as such, novels, so what if they have pictures in them, they decrease the amount of the pages needed for all the setting and describing of people, and I think if I get them hooked while they're young, they can bring the comicbook age back, not just because of the movies
4: I like to play god and mold young minds in the direction I feel is needed
5: I decide what's on the test, ME!!!

User avatar #94 - mistafishy (10/30/2013) [-]
This is something I'm very concerned with...

Do you need a graduate degree to teach?

If it makes a difference, I live in CT.
User avatar #128 - darman (10/30/2013) [-]
It isn't needed in a lot of places but I would be lying if I said it doesn't help.
User avatar #130 - mistafishy (10/30/2013) [-]

I like teaching, but I don't think I could take an extra year of school on top of college.

My American Studies teacher was getting her masters last year and she wouldn't shut the fuck up about it. I couldn't tell if she was just being whiny or it was some kind of hell.
User avatar #133 - darman (10/30/2013) [-]
Like I said, it isn't a requirement. If you are trying to do any special positions though like Literacy, speech therapy, or inclusion it going to be hard to get one without the master's in a lot of places.
User avatar #135 - mistafishy (10/30/2013) [-]
Hell no, I'm just thinking about plain old secondary ed. History is what i like, so that can't be too crazy...

Off the top of my head I can't say. I do recall that 2010 or 2011 was an all time low for openings though. I also know that there has been growth since then but I can't say how much.

Introducing: Secondary Education!!!

Highschool must be so much easier to teach... I teach 1st graders Sunday School to see what teaching might be like later on and it's hard with just 12 kids.

But hell, what you MAKE is not the issue... It's still fun.
