I'm with you. I'd get a car that i think was nice, not something that everyone else thinks is good because it's a "status symbol."

At the most I'd get a 1940s Chrysler Windsor.

No need for some overpriced piece of shit.

If you are rich enough to afford a RR you likely already have a fleet of cars and are just adding a RR to get some variety/it is a well known status symbol

Who cares about price at that point dude? Its more than price, its also braggin rights. If you had a billion dollars, are you telling me you wouldnt own a rolls royce 'because its too expensive"?
#185 - blackjew (16 hours ago) [-]
Not because it is too expensive. If you had a billion, there wouldn't be much that was too expensive for you, though I still don't understand the point of it. It may be my attitude because I don't have more money than sense, but it just doesn't seem cost effective. If I had the value of a rolls royce to spend on a car, I sure as fuck wouldn't get one. I understand they're a status symbol, but if you're willing to spend that much just so other people see you differently, you're fucking stupid. Not saying nobody should buy them, if you like it and can afford it, go for it. Just saying eco is also right, they're just not cost effective for what they are. Also, if you have the money to buy one, you probably care about price more than most people. You don't get to that level of wealth by carelessly spending...
User avatar #187 - captchakid (15 hours ago) [-]
I don't think there's a single billionaire who doesn't own well over a dozen cars, and I don't think it's a dozen smart cars either. I think if you truly had a billion, or even several million, you'd own a rolls royce, or something of equal or greater value.
#188 - blackjew (15 hours ago) [-]
You're probably right about most people, but if I had that amount of money, I wouldn't have a rolls royce, or anything anywhere near that value, I'd be dead. Plain and simple.
#186 - blackjew (16 hours ago) [-]

Not everyone rich is interested in cars.

Im fine with one, maybe a second as a back up.

Cars are a terrible investment so I would rather have my money elsewhere.
User avatar #30 - ecowolfrb (07/29/2015) [-]
I wouldn't own a rolls royce simply because it's more expensive than something comparable I could've gotten at the Mercedes, or infinity dealer for a reasonable amount. I mean if I was going to waste 200k like that I'd just donate it to a charity if I didn't even like the way a rolls looked in the first place. I don't need everyone to see how big my dick is just because I can wear ugly short shorts that show it off.

Why does anyone buy expensive cars? We can all drive toyota malibus for a fraction of the price
User avatar #104 - legodude (07/29/2015) [-]
it's how they are made, the about of work that goes into making the car to make her as smooth, quiet and comfortable as possible.

if you get a chance to ride in a rolls take it, you will understand what I mean then.

imo same goes with bmw, mercedes and a few audi models. they look exactly like any everyday car, they are not too powerful, nor too confortable, yet middle class people buy them to make other people think they're rich. ferrari would enter this category too, but at least it looks decent. still prefer lamborghini though.
User avatar #105 - legodude (07/29/2015) [-]
you sound like a poor idiot who has never been in a nice, Mercedes, BMW or Audi.

My uncle own a E92 M3, car is nice sure, but honestly, German cars aren't all about bragging rights as much as they used to, I found as much luxury in the E92 than I did in the C7 Corvette of my boss.

Is the interior of the E92 M3 better than my '10 Camaro SS , you bet, but performance wise, they felt somewhat the same.
#87 - cloakedone (07/29/2015) [-]
You literally have never owned a rolls have you?
you can't get a car as comfortable as a rolls. You cant. Let alone for any price cheaper. They are the most luxurious cars on ear, that's why they have their reputation. And when y ou re the best, you charge for it
#77 - anon (07/29/2015) [-]
Wel, you see, the problem is you assume the rolls is a car you drive yourself. It is not you either get a driver or you get laughed at, it's a status symbol.
#75 - doktorandus (07/29/2015) [-]
Personally, I enjoy the blocky design. I don't know why, but I just do. It gives off a vibe of power or somesuch. Plus I feel it harkens back a little to the car designs of the 1930s-1940s. But I could be wrong.

I'm not very immersed in cars or anything of the sort, Top Kek Gear will never really interest me save for the sheer personality of the cast, but I definitely adore the Phantom. Not because it's expensive, but I genuinely like its design.
#82 - anon (07/29/2015) [-]
Dude, it harkens the shitty 80s block design.
Back in the 30s 40s 50s they had aerodynamic cars to get the most out of the engine.
#159 - noshakingthrone (21 hours ago) [-]
I don't think you know much about car history mate. Writing a comment about aerodynamic cars in the 30s, 40s and 50s AND posting a photo of a typical, un-aerodynamic car of the era... The first aerodynamic cars looked nothing like that, they looked like the two in the picture, DeSoto Airflow (top) and Tatra 77 A (bottom).
#74 - anon (07/29/2015) [-]
It's like Rolex. No one is saying they're the best for the money but they will get you noticed.

Yeah I've seen it. Isn't it somewhere around 300k? I'd have something else made for comfort and luxury like an S class or a GL for less than a third of the price. Not impressive imo

Private prisons are only privately funded for construction. You still pay the same taxes for each prisoner there. They turn mass incarceration into a business. Then use the excess money to pass state laws and shit to get more prisoners. They can have their own parole board and keep prisoners just so they can maintain profits.
