Sure slavery was horrible but black people have more rights than a gay white man at this point in time. And majority of them choose to do nothing with it, they fall into the cycle of poverty which is not hard to break with legitimate hard work.
#205 - killmoves (07/23/2014) [-]
Majority? Yeah maybe 50 years ago, when blacks were shit on by the USA.
Now, only about 24% of black families live in poverty. While I'll admit that's still a pretty big percentage, it's still not close to a "majority."

Check the US Census Bureau if you want sources.

Im in south Georgia and here its definitely a majority
User avatar #215 - killmoves (07/24/2014) [-]
Well sorry that you live in one of the nation's armpits.
User avatar #220 - welfarekid (07/24/2014) [-]
Georgia is one of the most productive states in America, how about getting some info before you speak. Mild Weather, cool summers, warm winters, Flatlands in the south, Mountains in the north.

Business:
Farming is huge, including livestock. Many Fortune 500 companies have headquarters in Atlanta, including Coca-Cola, UPS, Aflac, Suntrust Bank, CNN, Delta Airlines, and the worlds busiest airport, Hartsfield International Airport.

Sports:
Georgia has 3 SEC football teams Georgia Bulldogs, Georgia Tech, and Georgia Southern, 2 NFL football teams, The Falcons and The Packers, and a baseball team, the Braves. Atlanta also hosted the 1996 Summer Olympics.

Music:
Outkast, TLC, The Black Crowes, B.O.B., Cee Lo Green, Ciara, Lil Jon, Ludacris, T.I., Usher, Jeezy, 2chains, future, gorilla zoe, Soulja Boy, Shawn Mullins, The Changelings, Mr. Crowes Garden, Justin Bieber, Cartel, Van Hunt, Alan Jackson, Jason Aldean, Zac Brown band, Sugarland, Kenny Rogers, Jerry Reed, Ray Stevens, Atlanta also is home to the Atlanta symphony orchestra, Music Midtown Festival, and Atlanta Jazz Music Festival.

History:
Its an original colony, #13. Has rich history from slavery and plantation owners, to Shermans March too the sea. The Gold Rush of Dahlonega, to the trail of tears, Cherokee Nations. Revolutionary and Civil war battles, to Martin Luther Kings demonstrations in Atlanta.

To clarify, Georgia is one of the greatest and most well known states in America. And it is my home, so suck my dick
User avatar #221 - killmoves (07/24/2014) [-]
You're talking about getting info before you speak, when you're the one generalizing an entire population due to the ones who live in your area.
Also, I'm hoping the Justin Bieber part was a joke, because that fucker's from Canada. Regardless, why would you be proud of that? None of your points were relevant.
Plus, how could you forget Ray Charles?

And I didn't mean to slight all of Georgia, it's a great place honestly.
User avatar #223 - welfarekid (07/24/2014) [-]
I would call Detroit one of the nations armpits though.
User avatar #222 - welfarekid (07/24/2014) [-]
Okay, I said majority, maybe i should have said a large percentage, and you're right this does not only apply only to black people but to all races, that they fall into a cycle of poverty that could be easily broken but they don't make an effort to.
I don't see it as an amazing feat for someone to make something of themselves in America.
I would find it much more astounding if a person born in the slums of brazil or india became successful.
#224 - killmoves (07/24/2014) [-]

**Orc rolled image** He's not wrong.
#145 - anon (07/23/2014) [-]
Why not? People act as if the United States were the only people exploiting slavery. Lets not forget that it was African slave traders that sold their own people to white men. Lets not forget slavery is still a problem all over the world including Africa. Slavery did get our country where it is today and while that may not be kosher by today's standards we can't ignore it and pretend that things wouldn't have worked in our favor if the US hadn't exploited slaves. And if you really want to hop on the social justice train quit worrying about black people who have received enough apologies and reparations as is. What about the Chinese Americans who suffered during the gold rush? What about the Japanese Americans that were interned during World War 2 and have yet to receive even an apology?
User avatar #152 - durpface (07/23/2014) [-]
if you honestly think that i'm "hopping on the social justice train" then you should just get your head out of your ass. It was a super fucked up situation and you know it. Now im not denying the fact that slavery served a "positive" purpose, but at what cost? So many people were denied freedom purely because they we're somebodies property on paper. And did i mention anything about who's fault it is? no i fucking didn't. I know the premise of the slave-trade and i actually study a fair amount of history so i know that it was a horrible situation that people should still have sympathy for along with every other injustice in the world.

By the way, you sure did judge the shit out of me when you have literally no idea who i am or what i stand for. But now i know you, a bigoted little fag that does have an elevated intellect, but refuses to use it on a non-biased spectrum. Next time before you type you should think about the person on the other end of the computer screen in a different light.
