#71 - What does a bioscientist do for a job?  [+] (2 new replies) 07/29/2015 on #overlyhonestmethods 0
User avatar #81 - datgermanguy (07/29/2015) [-]
Bioscientist is not a specific job field.
In theory, you should be able to work in many different fields, since bioscience includes also toxicology, pharmacy, chemnistry, physics and math, but in reality companies rarely know what to do with a bioscientist, so they hire someone else.
Many people I studied with had trouble finding their first job, but it gets better after that.

I have a grand total of zero degrees. I DID attend for a degree in electronics engineering, but dropped out because I found the instructors to be cocky idiots whose intelligence certainly did not merit the positions they were in. So, I guess that college made a difference in that it put me $20,000 in the red with nothing to show for it?
I won't discount the fact that certain fields require a degree to even consider entering (I certainly wouldn't trust someone without a medical degree to prescribe medication), however I will state that a person's experience is more valuable to me than a piece of paper. Example: You have three employees to choose from to hire for a construction company, one has been working in construction for 20 years, one has been working in construction for 5, and one has an engineering degree from some Ivy league school or other, but has never touched a tool in his life. Now, here's the catch: the 20 year veteran has only had one task those 20 years, cleaning up around the job site. the 5 year rookie has worked his way from being a helper to running the construction crew. All three expect the same wage: the veteran expects it because of his seniority, the engineer expects it because of his education, the rookie expects it because of his ability. Who do you hire?

Second guy because it basically that's basically where I'm at

My finances are my personal business and have no impact on my ability to make friends or find a mate (I'm married).
I live comfortably for my age, and that's all there really is to that.
#52 - drizztrocks (07/25/2015) [-]
Alright, can I ask if you have any degree's and if going to college made any difference in your ability to live comfortably?
