People spend their whole lives with the attitude that their happiness lies somewhere else, with a significant other they wont stop searching for, with a job that pays more, a nicer home, a better place to live with better weather. Its like people don't realize their feeling of malcontent is inside them and wont go away.
Joy is a fleeting feeling you get from something stupid and the feeling only lasts as long as the stupid thing that made you feel that way, and sometimes not even that long.

At least those people tried to achieve what they think will make them happy. It's better than sitting around doing nothing because you think it's pointless.
If you never try to do something that makes you happy, or find someone that loves you just as much as you love them, then of course life is gonna suck, and you'll be depressed, thinking that joy is just a "fleeting feeling" because you never tried to make yourself feel any different.

It certainly doesn't seem like you're trying now. Whether or not you've tried and failed before shouldn't prevent you from continuing to try now and in the future. Very few things in this world are easy but that doesn't mean they aren't worth pursuing, even if you get knocked down every now and again.
In the end, it's your choice; get up and continue trying to move forward, or stay down.

Only autistic neckbeard emo's believe that nothing's worth it.
If your alive right now, then there is probably a reason for it and you just have to go find it. People are quick to say there's nothing to live for when they hardly spend any time trying to find anything.

That's because their goals are ongoing, like "a job that pays more, a nicer home, a better place to live with better weather" >>#30. The advantage of their goals is that they always have something to do, something towards which they can look forward. This hope, this prospect, this aspiration gives them purpose in life, and causes them to feel happy. I recommend setting a few such goals, either ongoing with infinite possibility or more short term goals which might only take 5-10 years. Seek not happiness as an end result, for the end is hollow. Create happiness with a purpose and a sense of purpose.
