it just makes so much more sense then people from the future not being able to affect the past, or affecting it, then telling themselves to go back and do it. Those infinite loops are annoying, and a branch just clears everything up

because dumbledore is a clever mofo, he probably guessed someone came down to save buckbeak and once he heard them talking in the infirmary he put it all together and knew that they needed to use the timeturner to go back and save buckbeak and sirius.

basically it all happened because it already happened. and if it hadnt happened then it never would have happened.
#63 - dragonveech (12/14/2014) [-]
The movie made it seem more obvious about that than the books did, but you are right.
I just see time-travel as creating an alternate timeline where something else happened to the current timeline, that way the past can be changed, and it wouldn't effect the person not going into the past to stop it from happening

no, if you watch in the movie it looks like he killed buckbeak, but what really happened is he got pissed because buckbeak was gone and hacked into a pumpkin instead. but from the angle they show you dont see that and think that buck beak is kill.
#61 - dragonveech (12/14/2014) [-]
Alright, I do see that point, and I cant refute it.
However, the headmaster was at the execution, there would have been no way he could have figured out that it was time travel that saved the hippogriff, so why did he say to the main characters that there could be more than one life to save?

(sorry, first response was filled with typos, im tired.)

i cant remember the name of the specific theory but it basically states that any events that happen during time travel has already happened and cause the future events in the first place. I.E. the only reason harry produced the stag patronus at the lake was the fact he already saw himself do it so he knew he could.
another more popular example would be that if you go back in time and replace baby hitler with another baby, that baby would turn out to be the hitler we know of in the present. there for if you hadnt gone back in time and replaced hitler then hitler would never have been hitler. make sense?
#59 - dragonveech (12/14/2014) [-]
But I understood it that the main characters went onto the hill, and watched the executioner lob off the hippogriffs head
