Not really, although the definition of "engine" in this conversation is slippery, all a new engine could really entail would be things like improved physics, etc.

You don't have to drastically alter the gameplay so far that it's something different in a whole, but improving what already exists is a good start.

You can change the gameplay without alienating your fanbase besides just adding things. It's called improvement some series actually experiment with change too.
User avatar #443 - dracory (11/14/2013) [-]
how can you really change the gameplay with changing the game explain that if the gameplay changes i think i'm playing something else not another game in a series at that point i dont think i would be happy calling it part of the series

Talent is inherent ability. Skill is ability, talent means you are naturally skillful. Goku obtained his skill through effort, not sheer dumb luck, or some divine right like what vegeta believes. It's the reason why he's always better than vegeta, because while vegeta focused on being better than goku, goku focused on being better than himself.

You're mistaking talent for skill. He trained constantly to get to where he is, therefore he is skillful. If he had been born with the power he has he would be talented.

Because he has fighting spirit. He got to king kai's planet and nearly broke under the gravity so he kept going until he could run in it, then he kicked it up another 100 notches and did it even better. He works for what he gets.

Because, goku had no talent. None. You look at other saiyans and they truly were a proud warrior race, they slaughter planets and had fun doing it. He was the runt of the litter. He has always had to be broken to be built back up again, he watches his closest friends die around him constantly and after all his effort he isn't even the most powerful person in the dragon ball universe. But you know what? He doesn't give a shit. He's happy to be who he is and do what he does because he knows that if he can make himself better that he can save his friends and he can challenge any obstacle that comes in his way. So that's what he does, he gets better. He constantly hears from Vegeta about legendary super saiyans and how they are the pinnacle of strength so he goes and becomes one, but oh no, he doesn't stop there, he literally invents two new kinds of super saiyan, one of which vegeta never even reaches. It all happens because he always strives to be better and he does it for the people that he loves; to protect those who can't protect themselves.
