That was only one of my arguments. You learn about weight in elementary school, in middle school you learn things such as boyancy. I provided all possible cases, since I was writing one at all. And they didn't conduct an experiment, they obviously just asked a question. And it's not like this is super hard stuff, like you make it out to be with "theoretical assault courses with massive air compressors, Captain Science". It's basic damn physics that most people learned in 7th grade. Boyancy, density, and drag are all things taught in middle school. This guy is obviously almost or already finished with high school. If he can go around calling people giving the correct answers dumbasses, when he's the one that doesn't understand basic science, then he deserves to be corrected. Don't be such an asshole, I never claimed to be better than anyone. Does correcting someone who is wrong and attacking other people by being wrong suddenly make me an eltist or something? I didn't even attack anyone to begin with. You're all getting so defensive acting like I'm trying to be so superior, why are you so damn butthurt when I corrected someone who deserved to be corrected.

Oh, even better, you're the OP here. Nice job trying to avoid the fact that you were the incorrect one, instead of saying "oh, maybe I'm not so fucking intelligent after all!" God damn are you hypocritical.

This is a trick question and depends on other factors, including, the weight and size of the container and the composition of the air.
Weight + Size 1 - If the container gains more weight as it's size increases, in a manner so that the change in the weight of the capacity of water it can hold is less than that of the change in weight of the container (in the proportions we are discussing here), then the larger container would instantly be the heaviest. Because of the above, the compression of the air would have to be considered. If the air was compressed to the size of the water, allowing the same size containers to be used, they would be equal. However, if it was compressed further the container would be smaller, and because of the weight of the container being lost, the air would be lighter. If the air was not compressed at all, it would occupy a much larger space, and therefore would weigh much more.

Weight + Size 2 - Next density comes into play. Boyancy is decided by density, not by weight. I'll explain this with an example. If you fill a baloon with water, it will fall faster than a baloon filled with the same weight in (uncompressed) air. Because objects floating are not acted upon by gravity, they would be virtually weightless other than when they are being pulled due to drag and the initial energy required to begin kinetic movement.

Weight + Size 3 - Also, the size of the container matters because of drag. If you increase the size too much, the drag produced by such a container increases drastically.

Weight + Size 4 - Also, also, the size of the container restricts movement and makes you more obvious to be seen.

Composition: Again, density. If the baloon was filled with Xenon, Radon, or Krypton, each atom would be heavier than water (increasing density), the container would be larger than water's, and the boyancy wouldn't even balance those negatives out (due to the higher density).

tl;dr You're the dumbass, they're right, except in special conditions

You remind me of my douchebag roomate. Every time he's watching The Big Bang Theory in our room and Sheldon makes an "intelligent" remark, my roomate laughs and says "That's funny because I understand what he's saying; I'm such a nerd!" NO motherfucker... anyone that has taken highschool physics understands the joke- stop thinking you're mother fucking geniuses for understanding references to highschool science. i.e. Oh you know what the element symbol for potassium? Tell me again about how you're so fucking brilliant for getting jokes that are answered with "K"

Fgner you're being that kind of douchebag.

Wait what? Look above. The guy said that this other girl was a dumbass for answering the question how she did. I was responding to him pointing out that she was right and explaining why. Why is it that he can call someone a dumbass and act so disappointed in humanity, when he's wrong, and they are right. And when I point it out, I get attacked for being a smart ass. That's kind of backwards, dude.

Yes, I'm sure 11/12 year old kids take into account the immense machinery and pressure needed to get 1Kg air fully compressed into a 1L plastic bottle.
You probably had access to a massive air compressor all the time at your theoretical assault courses and that makes you better than us, doesn't it Captain Science?
Like, it's not as if the teacher was just asking 11/12 year olds a theoretical question about density/mass/weight/volume. I mean, what sort of idiot teacher would ask that without taking the imaginary massive air compression machine and the super strong 1L plastic bottle into account?
