...So what exactly happens after the Final Battle?

The lore gets a little vague, but it seems that after the battle there will be a second Song like the one that created the world. This time men and elves will take part in the music as well and it will be even better than the First Music. And then the world will be remade and Aule and the dwarves will help rebuild it. Maybe. There's no concrete word of god on what will happen.

Also, the fates of all elves are pretty much already decided. They don't have much of a say in the matter, it is widely determined to how Vaire wove their fate.

Whereas the fate of men is of their own choosing. They have complete choice over their fate, which, admittedly, has caused problems.

Good point. I wish more people built their fantasy races with as much care as Tolkein. It bugs the crap out of me to see constant mary sue Elf ripoffs, without any of the subtle details that made Elves and Men different in LOTR. They just slap a "better than everyone at everything, yet paradoxically not masters of the world" label on Elves and at best, humans get to be "scrappy" or some shit.

What do you mean by that? That Fëanor was the greatest elf of his time? The greatest while he was alive?

Then why call him the greatest elf to ever live. You are implying that no elf ever surpassed his greatness, before or after.

He was, at one point, the greatest elf to ever live. But that was before his fall, when he lost that honor.

I suppose I should have worded it differently.
