Have a blue ring story. Buddy of mine does mangrove surveys. Involves him cutting up the buttress roots and surveying what animals live in them. Working in info pacific and found a white octopus in one. Wasn't displaying any signs of distress so he put it in his hand and played with it in a non harassing way for a bit until he carried it to a holding tank for a cephalopod expert to identify. Next day a colleague asked "who put the fucking blue ring in the generic holding tank." As they separate dangerous species and what not. Dude was literally playing with one of the deadliest creatures on earth and didn't realize it, as they display the rings only when distressed and about to fuck something up. Don't know what was more amazing. The fact he didn't die, or the fact the octopus was all "fuck yeah dude lets chill for a bit"

They're smart. They know a bro when they see one.

Did he keep it? That'd be awesome to keep. Like having an aqua black mamba.

Flamboyant cuttlefish and the blue ringed octopus are the only dangerous cephalopods and they are 1HKO. both are native to australian waters
