The VW would probably be better for resale. Even a 2007 GTI with over 150,000 kms is almost 10000 us. GTis tend to hold their value very well.

My country's mentality is waaaay different than the U.S, if both cars for example cost 42k then the a250 will be about 33k in just two years of depreciation, while the gti will be 26k. Dont ask why its just how my country works

The VW will be less high maintenance after the warranty expires. And a hell of a lot less expensive. Do they both use Premium gas?
#17751 - derpingtonherp (07/27/2015) [-]
Id prefer to use gas with highest purity, i dont know what's it called in your country, its titled ultra here in middle east, kuwait, i believe its 93% pure i can't remember, cause gas is very cheap here so it wont matter that much. Also your right about the a250 being more expensive and the gti being low maintenance cost, but im thinking about this way, the merc and gti are both fun to drive, i drove them both, the merc is a bit more expensive but its a merc so the cost is acceptable, but it wont matter that much to me, they both look good exterior and interior, but i still don't know which one to pick, the a250 will obviously have a higher resale value later on.

I think I've read/heard that the Golf is more spacious since it's FWD and the other one isn't or something? I don't know exactly. But I like the way the Mercedes looks a lot more.

personally i wouldn't get either, but if you really want german go for the VW
#17691 - sylaz (07/25/2015) [-]
Neither, as you can get MUCH better cars used, pic related: E46 M3 still one of the best drivers cars out there, which can be had for less then these hatchbacks.
