what kind of shitty schooling did you have? history was drilled into my head nonstop till i graduated, this must be some new generation bullshit going on, not teaching the kids correctly.

The smart phone has become like the calculator why learn any thing when you can just rely on a tool to do all the work. Why are people in college if they have no ability to retain any information?

There are plenty of people that can retain information. This is why I said cherry picking.

They obviously watch movies they never caught a single civil war flick? Brad Pitt played a pretty well known confederate. It isn't like they were asking what year the civil war was and who were important people involved in it, which are more things people in college should know too.

I can't say anything about that. I've never watched a civil war flick. The only thing I can tell you about the civil war is that slavery was a part of the issue, the North won, and that Robert E Lee had northern morals, but was born in the south and fought for his state.

No one should be in college and not know who won the Civil war, it should be impossibly to cherry pick those unless these were just homeless people on a college campus and not enrolled forgive me.

History is never a strong subject in most American schools, its never really taught in a way that works with everybody, which end up in most students not paying attention. combine that with the fact that these are questions you aren't ask at all for years (I think the civil war was only ever touched on twice in my academic years). I admit I completely forgot who Joe Biden was, as no one really said anything about him for the last, i'd say, 2 years, until recently when someone reposted old memes about him.

Are you serious? I thought they did that during Czar Alexander's rule, cause of how shitty the Russian military was at the time.

This is a common misconception. Most soviets got guns. The myth comes from movies like Enemy at the Gates and an over exaggeration of the Soviet prison brigades which were basically made up of death row inmates and the communists decided to waste German ammunition doing the executions instead of their own. Russia made well over 50 million rifles they had plenty to issue. The Soviets by the start of ww2 had mostly ironed out a lot of the major issues with tactical level planning and were overall better at stratigic planning than the Germans by 1943. Keep in mind that the winter war taught the Soviets a lot about how fucked they were officer wise and they did make attempts to fix the issue before the Germans invaded. Also is a misconception that soviets were poorly trained, they were doing mandatory conscription before the war and ever able bodied male was required to serve for a length of time. They had a massive pool of conscripts to pull from while German was already pulling from their pool of would be 1946 conscripts during Barbarossa.

Regarding other sequels.
-There will not be a Team Fortress 3. It has been stated that tf2 is a game that can just keep getting updates, a new game wouldn't do anything. There is, however, talk on whether or not tf2 will be remade in the source 2 engine.
-dota 2 will probably not get a sequel anytime soon, as it is still extremely popular, has just been remade on the source 2 engine, still getting constant updates, and has yet to receive all the heroes from dota 1.
-portal 3 a maybe. no actual information on this. story is pretty set on where it is. only thing they can do is work on the portal 2 story that was originally being made. this involved a different character that was to be played around the same time, if not before portal 1. this was changed due to the testers comments.
its also important to note that most of these games' series are not originally made by valve, but either by mods or other games made by other people, that valve later hired.

regarding VR.

-dota 2 vr revealed. not used for gameplay, but for spectator mode. still a work in progress I believe, and I hope as mics are on by default, resulting in hearing a bunch of breathing by people who dont know how to turn off that mic and keep it more than 3 centimeters from their mouth.
-l4d3 vr rumored, no actual info
-Half Life 3. Chet Faliszek (co-writer) stated it will not be on VR
www.youtube.com/watch?v=o8Ea6NqxnY4#t=35m53s
Ken Birdwell (software developer at valve) said in an interview that a half life vr game is bad, as it would fatigue the player within 5 minutes. but a vr game taking place within the series' fiction is possible"
www.vrfocus.com/2015/12/valve-half-life-vr-would-fatigue-players-in-5-minutes/
-TF2 is on VR already via Oculus Rift. they've added a vr headset hat to mark the occasion.
