The entire point of them is to be user friendly. Saying they're not is just bull shit, even if you don't like them you have to admit they're simple and easy as fuck to use.

Ive used XP for close to a decade and then finally made the switch to 7.
Took me about 4 hours to get comfortable with it.

Last year I got a Macbook (for developing & general web browsing), I have never used MAC OSX peviously, but it took me less than 1 hour to get comfortable with it.

User friendliness, check.

Expensive = made out of aluminum, glass and generally latest tech.
Battery life will rape anything running Windows. You can finish watching 2-3 full lenght movies, while browsing the net on full brightness, whereas with a Windows laptop you'd be lucky to finish watching the first half.

I'll give you the user friendliness, because it's well-known Macs, as well as apple products in general, were designed to be user friendly.
However,

"Generally latest tech"

Average Windows Laptop of Standard Quality; about $460 at Sale price ($600 Standard Pricing)

Macbook Pro Laptop of Similar Stats; About $1080 at Sale Price ($1800 at standard price)

Stock price of glass and aluminum doesn't amount to those numbers either (not that the materials are any special other than pure aesthetics), and they still request you have a case if you want insurance with their product.

Battery Life, though not mentioned on the Windows Laptop's page, reports to be great by numerous reviews, so there goes the "rape anything running windows"

I don't like to roll with fanatical Anti-Apple crew that's manifested with this site, but it's inaccurate statements like these that remind people why there's an anti-apple grouping in general.

My laptop has the same specs as your precious mac (i7, 8 GB Ram, mid end NVidea graphics), is made out of magnesium (magnesium > aluminum for strength) has 3 year all in service (hell I tossed my last one on the ground 4 times, it wasn't even dead and they still gave me a new one), battery life of about 9 hours and it costs "only" 1200 euro's where an equivalent mac costs about 1500 plus mine is more user serviceable and has twin SSD's (for a total of 384 Gigabyte).

You can like your mac but saying it's superior to any Windows pc is just wrong, maybe to some obscure Acer or something but those Acers cost 1/3 at max so that ain't a fair comparison.

latest tech? yeah , that's BS. you can buy a gaming laptop that can run BF3 perfectly for the price of a macbook that has some integrated bullshit.
#262 - andrz (05/16/2013) [-]
Yes, so because you can buy a PC with great techs, that means that macs dosent come with the latest? that makes perfect sense.
User avatar
#326 - garymotherfingoak (05/16/2013) [-]
So it's the latest low end tech.
#170 - hylebus (05/16/2013) [-]
You're comparing 13" and 18,4" laptops. That's like comparing truck and sedan. If you want to compare, do it properly, dipshit.

#171 - yutdollacwwwthree (05/16/2013) [-]
You should try using the scroll wheel, it'd do you some good.

Scroll down on the apple page.
#173 - hylebus (05/16/2013) [-]
There is still no 18,4" apple laptop. And there will never be.
User avatar
#176 - yutdollacwwwthree (05/16/2013) [-]
Because it would be $5,000
#177 - hylebus (05/16/2013) [-]
And do you have any facts for that? If not, please shut up.
You Apple-haters are way worse than applefags. And I hope both of these groups die.

No one ever said alienware's aren't overpriced. Build yourself a laptop, an $1000 Windows laptop can crucify a mac in all categories
#228 - hylebus (05/16/2013) [-]
All categories? Fine, tell me which $1000 Windows laptop has unibody aluminium chassis or Thunderbolt.

#147 - garymotherfingoak (05/16/2013) [-]
alienware is the Apple of the PC industry. even with their overpricing, the alienware for 2300 is much better than the 1600x900 macbook for 2700.

#167 - yutdollacwwwthree (05/16/2013) [-]
That was my point, I didn't really say it but I tried to imply it.
#83 - garawra (05/16/2013) [-]
I can agree with the user friendly bit. Battery life is a bit of an unfair comparison though. If you were to buy a $1000 ultrabook w/ windows it would typically have the same if not more battery life.

#50 - hylebus (05/16/2013) [-]
Not very user friendly? Are you fucking kidding me? They're specifically designed to be user friendly, so even older people can use it.
Fucking haters with no real arguments.

Even for more complex tasks Mac OS X is equipped better than Windows, because thanks to BSD core it shares very important tool with Linux - console. Windows PowerShell is fine, but it has shit on any decent console implementation. As occassional Linux user, I find a lot of things easier to do with console than with GUI, because it takes considerably less time.

For the causal user they are very userfrendly. I can't speak much for a mac, but I got an iPhone. It's really easy to use if you only want to do basic stuff. Downloading and using appss, browsing internet and calling people is all simple. If you want to do something more advanced and/or configure it to your own liking, apple productes are shit.
