Perhaps. I'm no waiter.

Was simply pointing out, they make AT LEAST minimum wage, in regards to some saying they get paid deplorably.
User avatar #144 - demented (03/19/2015) [-]
I've never worked as a waiter however I have received tips in a barista style and have had several friends work waitress jobs. Many of them could bring in 75-100 a night just in tips if they worked well. I'd challenge euros to find fast food as cheap as some mid-range restaurants in the states because when I crossed the pond fucking EVERYTHING was expensive in restaurants.

Well on top of the fact that US employers don't have to over charge to cover employee wages. Tips are great for the US employees so much so that the government taxes them.
I can work a 10/hr wage job and make less than a waiter because of tips. Anyone in American food service that dislikes the tipping system is absolutely retarded

You are aware, that if their tips don't add up to what someone making 7.25 would make in a 40 hour work week, they're bumped up to minimum wage for the difference.

Because it certainly seems that everyone in this thread is unaware. (Even the supposed waiter below)

www.paywizard.org/main/salary/minimum-wage/tipped-workers
User avatar #158 - pokemonstheshiz (03/19/2015) [-]
yes, but most waiters will often not work 40 hours a week, the hours aren't usually available (even if you work 5 days a week, your shift may only be 6 hours). So you really won't make much of anything.
User avatar #159 - rhydonsmash (03/19/2015) [-]
You mean just like everyone else working there?

If you work in a restaurant that isn't a private company, and expect more than 25 hours a week, you're gonna have a bad time.
User avatar #162 - pokemonstheshiz (03/19/2015) [-]
Also, in many places, you are technically paying for tables that don't tip. A lot of places have something called tip share, to pay bus boys, hostesses, etc. They get minimum wage plus food share, which is whatever percent of each waiter's sales divied up between them. So you actively cost them money. I know you didn't say otherwise, but just something a lot of people don't know.
User avatar #166 - rhydonsmash (03/19/2015) [-]
Wasn't aware of this. Nice tidbit.
User avatar #160 - pokemonstheshiz (03/19/2015) [-]
Most kitchen employees get about 30-40 hours, at least where I've worked. And no one would be a waiter for minimum wage, you could get a much more pleasant job somewhere else.
User avatar #163 - rhydonsmash (03/19/2015) [-]
Just noticed username. Alright.

And everywhere I've worked, they scheduled waiters just like everyone else. The new hour limit on full time employees is also really fucking most service workers over.
User avatar #128 - demented (03/19/2015) [-]
if you aren't making minimum wage at a job as a waiter you're probably doing something wrong or the restaurant is doing very poorly.

It's Australia, they should be thankful they even know what the cover art looks like. They actually forced the Fallout universe to call morphine "Med-X" because depicting drugs in gritty, violent media intended for adults is something something think of the children.

So yes, the feminazis did get their way, but only because they picked the right battle.
#16 - gangbangtime (03/12/2015) [-]
Feminazis ban GTA V completely in Australia.
Feminazis get GTA V to have an adult only rating everywhere else.
Feminazis control games journalism and mainstream media sides with them. Give games a bad rap for being misogynistic, game devs either get funded through kickstarter/patreon from now on or their game sells like shit, or they conform to the norm.

Theres other possibilities of course, and it maynot be that extreme or it might be worse, but if nobody fought it, if nobody prevented it, there would be a change that hurts the consumers greatly.

I'm...in-between careers at the moment. I gave up dealing for my missus, but she died in 2013 in an accident so there's nothing really stopping me going back (I was really fucking good at it).

I was a facilitator of sorts after that; I linked up distributors with dealers in areas who needed a constant reliable high grade supply. Then I worked in online dealing, on silk road and the likes - the legal stuff mostly. Then I started working with bitcoins because I had way too many, and that kinda became my job. Then through happy accidents I started moving real currency, partly as a facilitator but mostly as a broker.

Now my official job is a currency broker, I deal with cash in various currencies, buy it when institutions have an abundance of it and can't get rid of it - banks in shitty places are my main source, like I bought nearly a hundred million euros from various banks in Egypt and Syria. And I sell it to places that need large cash parcels who can't use electronic methods, mostly charities..in fact like 95% charities. Some banks do buy some back but it's rare, I'm a solo broker, they'll deal with firms or have their own systems in place. I deal with a lot of fucked up people too, either through legal money laundering (purely due to the country, if it was any other it'd be straight up illegal), but also have to pay a lot of shitty people not to steal the money or to guard it from those who'd steal it.

It's good money and reliable, but you're on-call 24/7 and if you're not in the right place when someone says jump then you miss out on your fees.

But after my missus died I took a sabbatical and I've yet to go back

Honestly, I suggest starting from the beginning, or if you'd like, from each of their separate origin stories, in order to get the collective sphere of information! The movie is actually best to watch first, in order to get the devil of the details!
