Hmm, fair enough I won't be a prick and put in incorrect words but I still hate captchas and while it is not difficult to type two words it is annoying. Especially when those words are illegible. I think captchas need to be changed to some other form of test or make it easier to actually read. Dyslexic people have great difficulty with them also and the audio captchas aren't any easier.

sure you CAN get guns for hunting but its regulated. You can't just buy a handgun at a gun show like in the states. You need a hunting license which includes a background check. Guns exist here but they're a lot harder to get. The only places they're common is probably rural communities because farmers and all that. I've never seen a gun here other than in a police officer's holster. And there's probably 1 mass shooting a year, if that, in the whole country
#155 - theXsjados (04/21/2014) [-]
Oh and I've never seen a gun around here either. I dunno man, it's like they're trying to conceal them or something.

Except in the states that'd like you to think the gun to person ratio exceeded 1:1 (Arizona, Texas) the law either forces or suggests concealed carry.

I live in Connecticut. No where in the law does it say the pistol has to be hidden, yet the only pistols I've seen swinging from someone's hips are the pistols cops carry. In fact it's so uncommon to see a pistol, and because of the shootings, the sight of a pistol usually results in someone calling the cops (for no reason).

One of the police departments in my local area had to post a department wide memo to all of its officers reminding them that there's no legal repercussions of open carrying or having your gun spotted by a citizen, because every time someone made out the imprint of a gun or spotted the grip of one beneath a jacket they'd call the police and the legally carrying citizen was getting in trouble and having their time wasted, because of a public over zealousness.
#151 - theXsjados (04/21/2014) [-]
Yeah except you can't just buy a handgun at a show in the States... You need a pistol permit, which requires a background check, and the transfer of the gun also requires a background check. NCIC background checks are done so much it's ridiculous.

Now, in some states, even buying a hunting rifle or shotgun requires a pistol permit and a background check. Hell, if you owned a gun before these new laws went into effect you have to get a permit to buy ammunition, which requires a background check.

America is the country of zero liability. We try to cover our asses in as many directions as possible, so that means we background check the shit out of everyone for everything we can.

www.cato.org/publications/commentary/facts-about-gun-shows

I'll take an organizational site over a commercial site any day.

Not all these regulations apply to rifles and shotguns, but they do apply to pistols. The vendors don't necessarily have to be licensed but they still have to abide by federal regulations.

Lets look at Connecticut. To buy a firearm from someone they have to obtain a form from the FBI and fill that form out and obtain the buyer's signature. The have to retain that form for 5 years. If the buyer is not a pistol permit holder you cannot sell the pistol to them. If they are not a pistol permit holder you can sell them a rifle or a shotgun but, you have to get authorization from the FBI (which includes a background check) and you have to hold the weapon for 2 weeks, if they have a pistol permit (or ammunition eligibility certificate) then the waiting period and background check is waived.

This applies to everywhere inside of Connecticut. Gun shows, shop, and private residents. If the vendor does not follow these rules then they are selling the gun illegally.

Drunk driving affects everyone, even if you're "smart" about it.

You lose motor skills when you are drunk and can easily run off the road or hit someone.

Some drunk driver crashed into our neighbor yard a while back, hit the rock and then went forward a bit.

Dumbass idea to get behind the wheel and being drunk.

Bidding a dollar above someone is about the equivalent of sneaking up on somebody with a baseball bat and hitting them in the back of the head.

If you go over, you can't win anything. The only way the woman with $800 dollars could have won would be to get it exactly right, so the blonde essentially screwed the woman bidding $800 by bidding a dollar over her.

The blonde still lost and sweet justice was served.

It seems like it's largely an American thing to hate people that try to do anything strategically better than the norm. Like the guy who got all that hate for changing up his order on Jeopardy.

Can't help but feel like it's related to the rampant anti-intellectualism inherent in our culture. You tried to think about the game?! NERD!
User avatar #75 - mrdrpage (03/23/2014) [-]
It's just a cheap move. I'm sure it was applauded the very first time it was done, but there is nothing "intellectual" about it when people do it every single time.
#76 - muken (03/23/2014) [-]
If you believe the price is higher than the highest current bid, it is not cheap. It is the CORRECT move, anything else is charity towards the last player, which should not be expected in a competitive game. If you bid 802, you aren't securing any more numbers for yourself, you are making a strictly worse move than bidding 801 and simply giving the 801 value to another player.

The same goes for any other number over 800, they are all just giving numbers to someone else. Why should someone do that? You're trying to tell people they should play worse, and demanding they make some arbitrary valuation of how much worse they should play. What's fair, bidding 810? 802?

User avatar #46 - mrdrpage (03/22/2014) [-]
If I punch you in the testicles during a boxing match and the ref doesn't see it, it's fine because the point is to win.
#47 - jazzytheferret (03/22/2014) [-]
Not at all; betting 1 over is completely within the rules. Punching in the balls is a known illegal hit. Now let's say if you knew I had a weak left leg for some reason and used that against me, it'd be cool.
User avatar #70 - Crusader (03/23/2014) [-]
Ok, a better example would be if I was hunting, saw someone taking aim at a deer, and then I shot it first, having only noticed the deer due to them aiming.

It's within the rules, it's legal, it's all above board.

But you look like an asshole and everyone that knows what you did will look at you as a lesser person because of it.
#72 - jazzytheferret (03/23/2014) [-]
Hunting is not generally a competition where things like that will happen though. If a large enough prize was up for grabs and everyone was in it to win, I'm sure most people would go for any opportunity within legal (sometimes not) means to win.
I understand what you people are trying to say but throwing entirely different scenarios out with no real correlation really isn't turning my opinion around on this.

User avatar #143 - deansg (01/29/2014) [-]
It said not to claim it's against your religion, but if it's in the bible it clearly is against some people's religion (more Jews than Christians since old testament)

It is paired with the "outdated" kosher laws by religious people who support it.

the rational being that there was a time where it would have been detrimental to human development, but that time has passed.
User avatar #138 - thebritishguy (01/29/2014) [-]
Jesus himself said that marriage is between a man and a women, although he never said anything explicitly about gay people.
User avatar #146 - dafiltafish (01/29/2014) [-]
That rationale was based off the original rule of the OT. Wasn't too popular to try to pick apart your holy book in those days, so i doubt Jesus tried.
User avatar #149 - thebritishguy (01/29/2014) [-]
Well either way that's what Jesus said and he was imposing new rules, not Christian btw
User avatar #154 - dafiltafish (01/29/2014) [-]
Yeah, I know.

I am saying that the wasnt aware of the reasoning that led up to his beliefs.

(I'm not really the religious type, i just went to a Jesuit high school)
User avatar #133 - deansg (01/29/2014) [-]
Being anti-gay marriage never had a rational argument, unlike a lot of other commands in the Jewish bible. It's not exactly the same imo
User avatar #137 - dafiltafish (01/29/2014) [-]

People have different opinions
You didn't mention you were looking for jewelry stuff, most people would decline it since they're not after those
User avatar #261 to #260 - deansg (01/19/2013) [-]
I only need jewels I don't have, they don't have some special status for me.
User avatar #258 to #257 - deansg (01/19/2013) [-]
