I'm placing my feet about shoulder width apart, slightly pointed out. Now I can go low, but my back shoots forward. I can go about half with my back straight, which really needs to improve. It's the main reason I try to do leg n back day after work - less mobility issues, since I have been standing, walking, running and generally moving about all day.

Box squats might be an idea. Definitely gonna try that on friday. Actually, could even try it at home, getting a feeling for it.

Yeah, got some neck and back issues to begin with, though it has greatly improved. Hell, I can actually sit damn near straight without issues.Kinda forcing myself to correct my posture here.

Thanks, gonna check it out. Already watched a video of Alan Thrall and had a gym bro help me out and record me, it didn't look too shabby, just gotta go deeper. Say, do deadlifts help with squats? Most programs say to do only 1 full set of 5, though I do about three for my lacking squat game. Just curious if that's nonsense or can actually benefit me.

Allright. By the sound of it, your feet are in the right place, so that's a great start.
If you want, you could post a video and maybe I notice something, or you could post it on the board and then we could help you even better.

You can also try squatting with a smith machine for practice, because you don't have to focus on the balance or anything. Or maybe front squats, I tried them before and I noticed that it kinda forced you to have good form. I personally couldn't really do them heavy because I'm not sure how to hold the bar without chocking myself, but lightweight it's worth a try.

Hmm back issues are the worst imo. You could do some stretching after working out. It probably helps

Hmmm I don't really know but if I think about it, it seems kinda logic that it would help. Because you're kinda starting in a squat position.
I would also say 3 because I have the feeling that 1 set wouldn't do that much.

Tbh with about 15 seasons of full contact sports and like 6 years in the gym; not strong before working out definitely puts you in a bad spot. But I can also see how stretching improperly could tighten you up.

What I was talking about was most of the time you see a picture and think "oh hey that's my goal" and another picture "oh nah that's too much for me" but when you're getting to the first one, the second one probably is going to be your next goal and so on.
I think this is most of a girl thing but I think some guys have it too. Friend of mine has the same. He's all about not wanting to be as big as my bf but I see him noticing his gains and liking it so he'll probably is going to change his mind haha
