Now that you mention it, Ellie is probably a far better example for feminist traits than Moxxi, really.
>Moved away in order to not have to conform to her slut-ass mom
>Is proud of her sexuality and her body without having to exploit it
>Works in a profession dominated by men and excels in it
>Is badass enough to somehow live in a place where violent truck-riding bandits are constantly attacking her, but she is fine.

It's fairly natural for females to engage in fashion, communication and you know. that stuff.
While men usually have a thing for sports, competition and you know. that stuff.
Stereotyping can lead to discrimination. That's true. But it depends on what you stereotype.
When you think that all black people are dumb shits that is probably a bad thing, because it's not fact.
prft whatever i think i wont be able to get my point across.

Putting a sign with a black person with a bubble that says "basketball player" would be fine. presumption
It would be.
I don't see why anyone would mind.
I would only mind if lets say the NBA would take a black player that is less qualified than a white player just because he's black. discrimination

You aren't born with the likes of shopping if you are a female
Most women are.
It's a natural thing.
And it's not a problem just because you say so.
Give me a good reason for why stereotyping is a problem.
Remember that stereotyping and presumption =/= discrimination.

Most women are born with the need to shop? Are most men born with the need to consume beer and watch football just because others engage in that? That is a moronic statement and following that logic, i'm surprised women in third world countries and the middle east aren't all fighting for the chance to go to america or europe where shopping is more readily accessible, since they wouldnt be able to control the need to shop excessively that they were born with. It is not a "natural thing" just because a number of women do it, it is a preference. Stereotyping is not discrimination, but it can lead to discrimination pretty easily. All it takes is someone to actually believe that just because someone is of a certain racial group that they are the same as an incorrect view of that group and then believe that they are inferior because of it. That is also racism and can branch off into other more serious problems, like history has shown us already. Believing that blacks were a brutish and less intelligent people (stereotyping) led to them being discriminated against in horrible ways.

Feel free to reply, but from your responses, I can see this argument won't gain very much forward momentum, and bow out now.

Men more commonly like football.
Women more commonly like shopping.
It's true and it's not discrimination.
Racism, Sexism and any other form of discrimination involves... DISCRIMINATION surprise.
Example for why you're wrong.
Women generally have breasts.
"that's sexist!"
Why
"not all of them have" (genetics fuckups and breastcancer blahblah you get it)
Am i discriminating women because i say they generally have breasts?
no.
so shut, stop searching for discrimination where there is none.
we have bigger problems around.
User avatar #37 - daix (10/22/2014) [-]
Sexism is prejudice, discrimination and stereotyping. It may true that more men enjoy something more than women and vice versa, but to attribute the liking of that certain thing as being more manly and the dislike or disinterest as being unmanly/effeminate is sexist. Using examples of common traits like having breasts proves nothing, especially since that is not what this is implying.

"You like beer, buffalo wings, and watching football? Girl, you are such a guy!" No, she is person with her own personal likes. This is exactly along the lines of what is being said here, and it is not right. If you disagree, consider the following:

The NBA is commonly made of black players. This is true so black people must love to play basketball and must be pretty good at it. Putting a sign with a black person with a bubble that says "basketball player" would be fine. If you think that this is wrong, but that what is being said about men and women above is ok, you are logically inconsistent and hypocritical because the scenario is the same.

You aren't born with the likes of shopping if you are a female, this is something personal and is no where near a representation of the sex as a whole. This is not discriminating, as it is not denying service to a male if he doesn't like typical guy stuff, but it is stereotyping that men are the ones who like football, therefore this stall is for all football-likers, since they would obviously be male. And that is sexist.

No searching as to be done for something so plain in view and outdated views such as this (men obviously like sports and women totally are into shopping) have to be shot down so we don't continue to hold archaic views as being ok, like women being beneath men or men having to go out and do all the work to provide because that's what those sexual stereotypes were back then. This IS a problem, and if we hadn't thought it was before, stuff like what I just mentioned would still be thought of as being completely acceptable.

I couldnt download your folder. So I'm just gonna build it up myself. However, a thank you for the effort, at least, seems to be in order. So, thank you for trying. It's a lot more than you had to do, which was nothing. I appreciate it.
