Forgot to ask, what components do you have now?

Ive got an i7 6700k, gtx 970 g1 gaming, rmx 850w psu, Asrock z170m extreme4 mobo, 250gb evo SSD and a hand me down 1 terabyte hdd, really need more storage. All in the node 804.

I'm also looking at getting new monitors for when I get new gpu's and I'm thinking 3 1440p monitors what would you recommend.

I'd start with a loop for the CPU only, no need to watercool a 970 IMO.

If you want the best 1440p gaming monitor, it's the ROG Swift PG279Q hands down. Otherwise the PG278Q comes very close. I've had my PG278Q for almost 2 years now, it's awesome.

Although I wouldn't spend that much on the two other monitors obviously. Unless you're gonna do surround gaming.

oh yea I wasnt going to put a block on the 970.
Man that is an expensive monitor. I was looking more at 3 1440p for surround gaming occasionally or im looking at getting the acer x34 ultrawide and and 2 other monitors that are about the same height for uniformity reasons.

Ultrawide is hella expensive too. But man can I tell ya, 1440p and 144hz combined is pure bliss. You could always look into other brands too. Acer, AOC, and even Dell have some 1440p 144hz monitors too.

The 6700K is a good foundation, so I would definitely go for a high refresh rate monitor either way.

It's pretty easy to just do a CPU loop first and then expand to add the GPU(s). I did that myself, I only had to partially drain the loop, take off the piece of tube that went out of my CPU block and to my reservoir/pump, plug the CPU block port that was open, then add the graphics card into it.

alright thanks for the info. I think i'll be buying the parts at the end of either this month or next month. Having vehicle issues and its gonna cost 600-700 to repair.

Just build a CPU loop and add the GPU blocks later, no?

yea thats what I was thinking then I started to wonder if it would be a hassle to disconnect drain and reconnect the loop and everything just to put in the card(s) and was wondering if it was easier just to do it all at once.

I don't understand why they didn't ship it with Vulcan at launch. OpenGL is utter fucking shit.

#50814 - sniffythebird (07/12/2016) [-]
Vulcan kind of is OpenGL tho... a newer version of it.
User avatar
#50815 - sannukas (07/12/2016) [-]
The difference being that Vulkan is actually good.
User avatar
#50816 - sniffythebird (07/12/2016) [-]
True that.

I haven't tried it yet cause I only played the demo of doom which only runs on OpenGL, but that ran amazingly well too on my 970.

But what's funny is I see Vulkan being mentioned as if it's AMD's new Mantle. But it's actually so open that it supports Nvidia too.
User avatar
#50819 - sannukas (07/12/2016) [-]
Well it's based on Mantle so yea. Mantle was also open but Nvidia just refused to support it.
