So then the sticker was added for a reason, his argument is still valid.

The sticker was added because when they were made, multiplayer was still supposed to be in the game.

But it was removed from the final product, hence the sticker and the steam designation.

The sticker wasn't added because the information was wrong, it was added because it was changed, within the last few months of developement, and at no time did they announce that multiplayer wouldn't be in the game after multiple times saying that it would be, even though it wasn't supposed to be the main feature.

If it's not in the game, then it's clearly labeled as not being in the game, which it is. Buying into PR hype is a different thing entirely.

>prerelease hype

You mean when they not only said it would be in the game, but showed people playing together? That hype?

Yes. Is this your first experience with a game on launch being drastically different than press footage? My point is that, on release, the game was labeled single-player, so making complaints to vendors (not the developers) that the multiplayer function isn't working is pointless.
User avatar

I haven't said anything about vendors, I've only talked about the devs.

The comment you replied to was specifically talking about Steam, not the devs, and you said his point was invalid.

my comment was directed at him saying "i know the developers lied, but it's still your fault"
User avatar
#48 - adu (08/12/2016) [-]
What are you even talking about? Whose fault? The dev's or steams? Because it's not Steams fault, and it's not Steam's problem either as long as the product is accurately listed and labeled on their platform.

you must be a bait account, because i haven't said "steam" at all in this entire chain.
#52 - adu (08/12/2016) [-]
What the fuck is your reading comprehension? Let me give you the play-by-play.

THIS is anon's comment:
Luckily for you they don't check those forms and refund automaically if you haven't exceeded 2 hours of gameplay.

Because it clearly says it SINGLE PLAYER on Steam's game page.

Yeah, i know what the developers advertised.
Not Steam's problem, their product works as specified. [code]

And THIS is your direct reply TO his comment:
[code]A physical copy of the collector's/limited edition has the multiplayer info covered by a sticker, your argument is invalid.
expand ++

The discussion has NEVER been about the developers, but Steam. He even made that distinction. You said his point (which was that a game's features isn't Steam's problem as long as they're accurately disclosed) was invalid because of what was behind the sticker on the game case, which doesn't even make sense to begin with. The sticker was added for a reason. Peeling information off of the case and then complaining about incorrect information being on the case is retarded. That's like peeling the numbers off of a price tag so you can pretend the product is free.

I'll reiterated once again that this has nothing to do with the developers, this has to do with claiming a refund for a product purchased THROUGH A VENDOR for a feature missing that the vendor appropriately disclosed wasn't there to begin with.

I hope this time we're on the same page.

the point of all of this, though, is the game itself. it was advertised with multiplayer for so long that everyone who had heard about the game expected it. it had already been talked about, confirmed, and even shown off a bit.

no one said it was steam's fault, not me, not the anon, pretty sure not OP but I don't even remember what the actual post is. all that was said about it is that Steam has it listed as single player. if the devs of a game specifically state "hey, our game will/won't have multiplayer" you're going to trust them and not think twice about it. you aren't going to check a vendor's description of the game.

If I tell you that my team and i are making the ultimate game that combines some of the best aspects of gaming currently and it'll have multiplayer so that you and your friends can play together, you're going to believe me. There's nothing to gain from lying about a game that hasn't even had a screenshot shown off.

If i show you multiplayer working and tell you that other people can see you and that it's possible to randomly come across other players even though it's unlikely, you're going to believe me.

Admin's "code" function gets fucked up if you try to add it twice in one comment, but it should still be readable.

Reminds me of Stardrive for when it was on EA and the steam page for a long time said it will include multiplayer/singleplayer. But a week before the final release the steam store page was changed to only show Singleplayer because the developer couldn't be bothered to implement it completely and promised to do it for Stardrive 2.
