oh i just HATED the ending. For me Terry's supposed to be the underdog story of a young punk that not only didn't get a robin suit but got flat out knighted as the next batman. "Hey kid, wanna be batman?" from an old, hopeless bruce after a failed robin. But the whole clone thing kind of just shit on that peculiar feeling of underdog story. Oh actually it was predetermined all along. The clone nonsense rubbed me off the wrong way.
Also he looked cooler younger gotta say.

The whole point was that it wasn't predetermined, at least not by anything but "fate". Terry isn't a clone either, he's Bruce's son, it was pretty much if Bruce had procreated with his mother rather than Terry's "father". Terry is still an underdog who ended up in the batsuit, and he wasn't given it he took it, if you remember Bruce was damn near ready to letting him die in the suit before Terry convinced him otherwise. Terry still became Batman of his volition, no one forced him into the role, and even Bruce had no idea Terry was biologically his son at first.

It halo mixed with call of duty. The winners circle shit is so fucking gay. Straight outta call of duty. I was excited for it but after playing the beta I won't be buying it. Hopefully gears won't dissapoint.

Eh, its pretty well written, and not inconsistent with anything I know about court, lawyers etc. You can find other news articles referencing it too if you google "confessions of a public defender." Nothing I saw claims the piece is made up. So while you're right in that we have no solid evidence its real or this guy is who he says he is I would say there's a chance its real, even if it IS on the internet.
User avatar
#142 - kaiyuni (04/14/2016) [-]
I agree, but I figured I would try to give it the benefit of the doubt and that the public defender didn't give his name on purpose. It could wreck his job if he did.
User avatar
#154 - Ruspanic (04/14/2016) [-]
He said his name was Mike Smith, though that could easily be an alias if this were real.
User avatar
#201 - kaiyuni (04/14/2016) [-]
I thought that was just a name for the sake of a name. Since Mike and Smith are ultra-common names.
User avatar
#241 - Ruspanic (04/14/2016) [-]
Yep, as I said it could be an alias.
But regardless I agree with crazyllamax and the anon from comment 76 that this story looks suspicious: not only is there no source, but basically everything the guy says sounds like it was concocted for the purpose of validating a certain ideology.

Ok so, I hated it. Could not get past the first volume. I found it way 7edgy19me. I just found Frank COMPLETELY unlikeable literally not 1 redeeming value, and just didn't get the appeal. Is there something that I am missing when reading this, like this isn't for me, or is the beginning saga just a weak point? I really would like your input.

#39 - captainfuckitall (03/24/2016) [-]
It just depends on your interests, old top.

What you call edgy, others call gritty, because he lives in a gritty and bleak world. Some people like The Punisher as a character and hero, and others don't. If that's not your cup of tea, that's perfectly fine.
#62 - gotthembarrels (03/24/2016) [-]

I guess my biggest problem wasn't the egdiness or the gritty nature, but how much of a hypocrite the Punisher is. During the Mobster funeral when he ambushes them with a car bomb, the bomb CLEARY winds up getting a kid (and possibly other bystanders killed as collateral. That is what i didn't get. He is clearly no better than the people he is "punishing" and is causing the same damage that made him so "righteous". So i guess my actual question is, is the punisher supposed to be a dark parody of the Vigilante type hero, or were the writers just stupid there?
User avatar
#68 - captainfuckitall (03/25/2016) [-]
A bit of both. He's supposed to be the type of 'real' vigilante that goes around rather than heroes such as Batman who just beat them up and lock them up. He's SUPPOSED to show the gritty and brutal nature of the whole business. He also makes a point to NOT hurt 'anyone who doesn't deserve it' (which he usually does a good job at). When he does not, such as when he kills the mother of a rapist, the child, or a boat full of businessmen, it is under the assumption that by being there/raised in that life, they would support it anyways, thus it is all well and good to off them.

The Punisher doesn't justify himself anyways and is fully aware that he's not making the world better. He later explains that he doesn't do what he does in order to 'make the world a better place', because other gangsters just take up the spaces he puts, but just so the people he kills KNOW that they were killed because of the choices they made and that they were bad people.
