its cool to look at them on a screen but much better to hold one in your hand
I prefer reading on paper. I like buying and owning books, and often re-read my favorites. Still, it's really practical to have a couple of hundred books in the phone. The point is that it's seen as snooty and elitist to read real books, and that's retarded. They are free to borrow from the library, anyone can do it. They also don't drain your battery.
That's fucked dude. I've never met anyone who judges people based on their choice between digital and physical reading (never want to either lol). I don't think choosing either choice makes someone better or worse than anybody else.
Agreed. I think that digital reading and physical book reading have their own unique advantages. It's not right to say that one is inherently better than the other because it all comes down to each reader's personal taste.
Phyisical books are better. You can trade them, buy rare books as investments (just like guns and knives), and above all, they make great clutter.
Don't state your opinions as if they're facts mane. There's a shit ton of ups and downs between the two formats. Even if you did list every possible pro/con and carefully evaluated the two options, it would still (probably) come down to each readers personal preference.
I'm a petty person m8
Those were the facts of it.
I agree with your facts man, they're pretty good reasons (unique ones that I couldn't have thought of) to prefer paper over digital. But the first sentence you started out with was an opinion. You stated it as a fact, that's the only thing I had trouble with. Because when you start stating your opinions as if they're facts, then all of the sudden there's a "right and wrong" opinion. Then you've got people adopting elitist attitudes, because they think they have the "right" opinion and the other people with the "wrong" opinion are just too thick headed to see the error of their beliefs. I believe that's the exact reason why there is some conflict between e-readers and book readers.
You listed some good reasons to prefer paper, but stating an opinion as a fact causes a whole lotta unnecessary shit to hit the fan.
The fact is, physical books mave more value. Even the shitty dime novels, as they can be used to start fires in emergencies.
Digital books (especially manuals, encyclopedias, and guides) are more convenient, as you can simply pull one up and jump to a section as needed.
I'm not saying your opinion is wrong, I value paper over digital too. But "physical books have more value" is an opinion. I can understand why you value books over digital, but the thing about value is that it is subjective. Something that you and I think is valuable might not be valuable to everybody else. It's a "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" kind of thing. It's an opinion.
Also I was wondering if you could suggest a book for me to read (haven't finished one in forever), I already got some good suggestions from other people but you might know about some really good reads.
