Yup, it would, thanks for pointing that out. align is an old way of doing it. If she wants things to be in the center, a text-align styling would be necessary

ill admit that is bullshit

but i am against any jail time for nonviolent offenses.

just keep in mind where your root arguments come from; a lot of them are based in religious zealotry or anti-male/anti-female stereotypes. i see a lot of MRAS, for example, use the "no penises in lady locker rooms" arguments and then get mad at radfems for saying all men are rapists

i appreciate the discourse, homie. youre fun to debate with, and youve got a damn fine brain on your shoulders

if they just go into the bathroom, they havent done anything wrong. there are laws against sexual assault, sexual harrassment, rape, peeping tom-esque actions, and the like. literally every fucked up thing you could do to someone in a bathroom/locker room is illegal. why make it illegal to walk into the bathroom you feel most comfortable in? with these laws, someone who runs into the wrong bathroom on accident or to avoid shitting themselves in an emergency can face serious criminal charges and be registered as a sex offender.

Good point. Thought here in Belgium, all those charges wouldn't get you very far. IF you get convincted for any of those here in belgium, most you will get is 2 years in jail, where you have a tv, all the food you want, comfortable bed, and I think even a playstation. You can walk around all you want, etc. It's pretty fucked up. You should read the story I wrote in comment #31, it really made me angry

the problem is, sex offenders arent going to let laws like these stop them anyways, so why pass them? its the tell rapists not to rape argument. it just doesnt work
#42 - cauhgon (04/09/2015) [-]
that's very true. But at least, when they get caught, they can get punished. If there's no law against it, they haven't done anything wrong. Technically speaking ofcourse.

and in the case of passing laws to prevent bad people from doing things, theres a difference between drunk driving laws and bathroom access laws.

a law preventing trans people from equal access to a bathroom based on the idea that predators will take advantage is the same as laws preventing black people from stores because some blacks steal
User avatar #38 - phtholognyrrh (04/09/2015) [-]
but thats a big difference. the prejudice against trans using bathrooms based on how they identify is based on the unfounded belief that trans people are sex offenders or that sex offenders will use the relaxed rules to abuse women/children. it ignores the fact that most men are not rapists, and that trans people are not pervs.

with drunk driving, you pass laws because no matter how well you, as an individual, can drive, the research shows that drinking impairs reaction time, and driving drunk is less safe than driving sober.

with allowing trans people to go into the locker room they want, the argument is rooted in faulty beliefs that men are hundreds or thousands of times more likely to rape than women (when we know based on CDC data that men and women rape equally); the idea that being transgender is tied inherently to sexual deviancy (which is unsupported); and that rape and sexual assault is a common thing (when in reality it really isnt).

when you combine these three false ideas, you can easily justify keeping "trans people with penises" out of girls locker rooms.

you can also look at the idea that men are more likely to predate on children than women, an idea unsupported by fact (as women are equally as likely to sexually assault children and far more likely to kill them); and if you see trans people as the gender they were born as then its really women in boys bathrooms you should worry about.

finally, theres the argument that seeing the other gender's junk too soon will cause emotional harm. so long as that interaction where a little girl, for example, sees a dingle, is not sexually charged, then there is no evidence that such a practice will cause harm
#40 - cauhgon (04/09/2015) [-]
True, however I'm not saying I believe that trans people are sex offenders. I'm saying I believe there are people that try to PASS as trans to commit sex offences. Like i said, I don't have as much a problem with it in case they are actually trans. Problem is you can't know who is actually trans and who is trying to pass as one, though I try to give people a fair chance at first.
