Haven't you seen Gran Torino?
Chinese commit crimes. So do whites. So do blacks. So does every single fucking human race because we're humans and humans are assbags by nature.

Except reprehensible behaviour is different in different cultures. Chinese, for example, understand that raping women is a bad thing, and so tend to ostracize rapists; while the grand majority of Muslim dominant countries don't care too much about crimes against women saved for when they are perceived to be against the man OF said woman.
User avatar
#102 - thegoblingamer (06/26/2016) [-]
I'm pretty sure Chinese still rape. It's been shown that knowing the consequences for an action tend to not deter someone from doing it.
I'll agree that in certain societies, rape is more normalized since women are considered "lesser".

But saying that only a certain race does crime is just stupid. Everyone's fucked up and we all need to shape up for when the aliens come knocking.

You misunderstand what I'm saying.

Of course every ethnicity is capable of criminal behaviour, since such behaviour depends on an individual, not a society, but certain cultural norms highly favour some 'crimes' over overs. In many European countries, for example, cannibalism is not illegal (though desecration of a corpse is), while in many West Indian cultures, cannibalism was one of the highest taboos.

You're right, saying that only a certain race 'does' crime is highly stupid, but it's also highly stupid to argue that certain cultural norms would not give a propensity to certain actions. When's the last time you heard a Caucasian justify a rape as a 'sexual emergency' and genuinely expect to be let off, for example?

A PEOPLE are not bad, a CULTURE can be, and for as long as those people carry the culture, it is no different than carrying a disease. Avoiding the carrier doesn't necessarily mean you hate them, but it's just as stupid to expect no ill consequences from their mass population, you see?

I once served at a sushi place run by a chinese family, I was really desperate for a part time job and I worked about 3 shifts a week. I was paid bi-weekly with wages averaging around $220 each time. Thing was though, they took all the tips, made you work your ass off and wouldn't let you write down orders or drinks and if you forgot you were shamed and I sometimes had to actually confront them about them missing a $20 when counting my money on pay day. It was the shittiest place I've ever had to work, It was also under the table so they were skipping out on who knows how much taxes. I actually considered calling the CRA on them but they have a family with two kids who were pretty cool so I decided against it, but man I've heard stories from other people and Chinese are commonly really shifty and unfair people to work for.

Yes, of course they are, China has one of the most apathetic and least compassionate cultures on the face of the Earth; that being said, very few of them commit actual crimes or 'harm' to the society they live in. Even as far as statistics go, Asians (slant eyes, obviously) have a tendency to commit the least amount of crimes (Save for crimes related to gambling, in which they tend to be very high...)

Change his analogy to "the equivalent of going to a ghetto in detroit and saying you are in africa"

I still agree with the top comment on its basis, but the anon also has a point, just because asians are better doesnt change the point.

Frankly I don't know the crime situation in Brussels to hate these muslims in particular. I mean, I generally dislike them in general and I am racist in that sense, but I don't really have any evidence to believe there's any danger in Brussels.
User avatar
#60 - captainfuckitall (06/26/2016) [-]
Aside from the crime spikes and recent terrorist attack that never happened before they were let in?

Even if you're not racist at all, statistically, the highest indicator of crime is poverty rates, and most migrants, indeed the vast majority of them (the refugees, anyways) either do not seek work or outright refuse to; which will no doubt lead to vast amounts of crime.

As someone who lives in Spain, our main hate goes towards rumanians and gypsies (local and foreign gypsies in general).

I know there are more muslims in southern spain but all the ones I know in my town in the north are pretty cool and even got a morroccan buddy who works hard and drinks booze (his daughter dresses like a slut too. Ironically if he catches anyone giving her the eye he goes berserk). But I haven't seen many burqas yet.

I just think that maybe the problem are the ones that move in with the masses rather than their ethnic group in particular. The legal inmigration process exists to filter out undesirables IMO.

No importa el origen, en Galicia aceptan a todo el mundo, ¡preciosa tierra con gente muy amable! Fui a hacer el Camino de Santiago hace unos 4 años y quedé terriblemente impresionado con la simpatía de la gente, era surrealista.

Sorry for bothering you, I was curious, I am always trying to figure out whether people from my community are on FJ (out of pure curiosity, not because I want to create a get together or anything)

It's not a bother at all, it's always nice to see people show some interest. It's funny because I never did the pilgrimage to Santiago and I live like an hour and a half from there haha

I've lived in many countries in my life and I've never felt so much at home as in Galicia.

The only thing interesting in my particular town though is the Resurrection festival (iron maiden ftw). The rest of the year is kind of boring.

I did it all the way from Oviedo to Finisterre, it was an amazing experience. I think that if you can get past the boredom of not having much to do that happens pretty much in the majority of small towns in Spain and the rainy weather, Galicia is one of the best places to live in all of Spain. Where else have you lived, out of curiosity?
User avatar
#104 - abesimpson (06/26/2016) [-]
I was born in New Jersey, then moved to Mexico then Brasil. Moving to Spain was the first time I noticed the smell of clean air the moment I got off the plane, and the first time I lived my life without fear of getting mugged or kidnapped.

Life in the states wasn't bad either but once in a while there was some prejudice for being of spanish descent and I was very young to remember much anyway. For some reason people are just friendlier in general in Galicia (although they have their fair share of assholes like anywhere else)

If you're ever around Galicia in the summer in the province of Lugo and need someone to smoke some joints and have a beer, don't be shy to ask.
User avatar
#109 - guillem (06/26/2016) [-]
Hey, I may take you up on the offer of those beers if I am ever in the region again (I'll likely do the Camino again in a few years)!

You'd be correct. As far as I know, when many people immigrate at once, it actually has the OPPOSITE effect and makes them knit closer together and become more xenophobic as an ethnic group.

That is, 10 Muslims actually have a higher chance of immigrating and adopting the local culture than 100, and those 100 more than a 1000, so on, so fourth.

I live in Finland and I thought it weird that alot chinese people were living in the biggest city near me (was maybe even a bit racist about it), then i realized that most of them were studying at the university there and found out some work in the city as scientists... and ive only seen women?

Can we trade our muslims for more smart asian women? They're alright

I don't think the evidence is all on one side here. Dinosaur bones should not have carbon-14 or soft tissue if they are millions of years old, yet they do.
