This here is Bartholdi's own design for the statue before construction on it began.
The myth of the Statue of Liberty's black original has been investigated and debunked.

Nope sorry, you should really fact check because while there are rumors based on what you're trying to say, extensive research has been done by notable and varied historians trying to prove if there is any truth to the rumors of the Statue of Liberty being intended as a piece on slavery and to date, no supporting evidence has been found. There is not actually a photo of another statue stating the "true intentions" there are however photos and brief histories of each of the other two 'Lady Liberties' that are located in France. (Swan Ally Island in the Seine River in Paris and also Paris' Luxembourg Gardens) The inscription on the plaque located on the Statue in New York Harbor says,
"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-lost to me."
This is an excerpt from a poem written by Emma Lazarus titled "The New Colossus".
