The report that article is based on is garbage. Not only is it written by an incredibly biases source, it's not really based on any numbers. Police keep terrible records of police shootings and they usually aren't readily available to the public. Further, the article includes "police, security officers, and self-appointed vigilantes;" they fail to define what a "self appointed vigilante" is and this leaves a lot of room for interpretations. Is someone who shoots a home intruder a "self-appointed vigilante?" For the article referenced, the answer is yes.

In fact, the black men and women that they list as these tragic losses are listed at the end. The very first one, a "Cory Lamar Jones" opened fire on a law enforcement officer. The second one tried to run over an officer while in a van. third did the same. Another pointed a gun at officers, one got into a shootout with an undercover detective, another shot a county sherrif. IN fact, in the first two dozen cases I've skimmed through only a handful were unjustified shootings.

Mind you, I'm not taking any position. If anything I agree that there is a problem in the USA with the police and the public and with race relations. But I'm just letting you know that you really need to check the sources that are provided in these articles to see if the conclusions make any sense or if the data is even any good. In this case, it pretty clearly is not.
