Why'd you thumb down my comment.
#5 to #4 - cableplug (07/19/2015) [-]
i'm sure I had a reason - please, link your content for further evaluation.

thank you for responding
#7 to #6 - cableplug (07/19/2015) [-]
oh yeah!

well, it's good and all, but the ending wasn't funny as your comment said it would be, therefore i had 2 options - to thumb up or down. If I had an option of a "meh" I would take it. But for some time now eveyone insist that we thumb, and not skip.
I see this video funny - but there is no funny ending - it's just what .gif left it to be.

All and all, this is a first time someone posted me directly about a comment vote.
I hope I shed some light on this situation. Be good!

Well, when the hamster goes "braaaaaap zututututu" is pretty funny and adorbs, come on. That's the ending I was talking about
#9 to #8 - cableplug (07/19/2015) [-]
It's almost the same as that axel f frog, just imitating a noise of a sports car. And that is just a wind compressor that is run by a hamster (that part is funny, but a noise isn't).
User avatar #10 to #9 - kikkilinu (07/19/2015) [-]
>wind compressor

Do you even boost m8

And the what what frog what?
#11 to #10 - cableplug (07/19/2015) [-]
Look at the size of that. That would not fit in normal cars (exceptions, yeah, I know). And this is that goddamn frog:

IDK, but if you post it here with a right context, you can get on frontP just with sheer hatred for it because FJ forgot all about it
User avatar #13 to #11 - kikkilinu (07/19/2015) [-]
And yeah, of course not normal cars. But you'd be surprised just how big some cars turbos are. I mean, I drive a car with a 1.7L turbo diesel. Relatively small turbo for what it is, but don't think it's abnormal that people switch it out with that from a 5 series BMW
User avatar #12 to #11 - kikkilinu (07/19/2015) [-]
Oh holy **** , Crazy Frog. That's a trip down memory lane. Just not a very good one.

Well, yeah, a drag car would have a turbo that big, and you know, diesel engines.

Some people drop turbos that size for their street legal Supra's or Skyline's or GTR's. Two in the case of the GTR.

I've seen even bigger ones than that. Lifted it, weighed over 50lbs easy. Came off a diesel engine.
#14 to #12 - cableplug (07/19/2015) [-]
speak in Kg, if you're EU.... but I am impressed with a fact that these things go in a car as I am a chemical technologist/engineer. And that thing is a wind turbine - only that it provides extra O2 in engine for more efficient fuel burning..... but it's not a clever design for that purpose
User avatar #15 to #14 - kikkilinu (07/19/2015) [-]
Over 20KG, since I am EU.

Well, a turbo spins by exhaust gasses. The exhaust gasses spin the turbine which in turn spins the compressor wheel as they're on the same shaft. It doesn't blow air into the engine, it compresses it, thus allowing more air to be fit into the combustion chamber during compression stroke of the engine, and more air+more fuel = bigger bang which = into more power. When you're running a high powered car, a small turbo would run inefficiently, as the smaller turbo doesn't push as much air, and tends to die out when you enter midrange revs. My turbo pushes 7 psi of boost normally, but by turning a valve it can push 24psi of boost easily and turns my little car into a rocket designed to kill you.
#16 to #15 - cableplug (07/19/2015) [-]
That sounds big, as I am not into fast cars. But you have to take into account of air/wind consumption, as o2 only consists of roughly 21% of the air. O2 in good oxydising agent (hence - the name) but derivatives of nitrogen (yeah, you know which) are even more effective.
For a custom made air/wind compressor I would reccomend a Pitot-Prandt pipe style air flow catcher, but that isn't an issue here.

to get to the point, I thumbed down your comment based on that obnoxious noise of a hampster and of inefficiency of that compressor. Although the construction of that piece is sound. You know - up or down vote.
User avatar #18 to #16 - kikkilinu (07/19/2015) [-]
It wasn't on a car, pretty sure it was on a diesel truck, but people would look at it and think, "huh. That + more fuel = fast" and just stick it on there. Well, yeah, but turbo's were originally designed for diesel engine, as at higher speeds, the atmospheric pressure wasn't enough for the engine, so at higher speeds performance went down, so that's why most normal diesel engines are now fitted with a turbo charger.

Well, of course N2O would be more effective, but you're not gonna fit that into a normal street car. It's less than cost effective, and women crash enough as it is, let alone if we let them drive fast cars.
#19 to #18 - cableplug (07/19/2015) [-]
hehehe, at least we agree on that
But I wonder how they're dealing with it on high altitudes, as ciucad de mexico (estimatin around 2000m) since air is thicker.
User avatar #21 to #19 - kikkilinu (07/19/2015) [-]
Still probably using a turbo charger, as it can compress the same amount of thin air that would be equal to normal air without the turbo, so it will run as if it's a naturally aspirated engine on level ground with no elevation.
#22 to #21 - cableplug (07/19/2015) [-]
I'm gonna research it tomorrow on how after work, and on engine materials...

Thnx, you've given me a new thing to look into. I have to go now, see you around FJ.
