Really I'm tired of all the anime and avatar posts. They aren't funny. Even when i see a post like that for a show I like I don't thumb it up because well, it's not funny or interesting
#29 - leifbunny (22 hours ago) [-]
Agreed.... maybe we're just getting too old for cartoons.
User avatar #30 - keatontheghostfox (22 hours ago) [-]
I can't watch anime anymore, though I did enjoy hellsing. But other than that anime bores me. The plots tend to be filled with plotholes, the characters and the stories are too cliche and the whole thing is just too over the top most of the time.
#44 - anonymous (21 hours ago) [-]
hellsing was over the top in some ways though
User avatar #70 - keatontheghostfox (18 hours ago) [-]
Yeah it was, and honestly I think it would be better if it was less over the top. I just like the characters in hellsing, same with fullmetal alchemist. For me a consistent plot and interesting likable characters are the most important part of a show
#31 - leifbunny (21 hours ago) [-]
Because we're not their target audience... And their TA isn't that hard to please, really.

I love how the translation literally says "Not on (literally as if something is on something else) watch (time telling device).

>Implying European culture isn't just re-skinned Roman culture which is just re-skinned Greek culture which is just re-skinned Persian culture
>Implying Middle-Eastern cultures aren't just re-skinned Persian and Byzantine cultures (which is just re-skinned Greek culture), making them related to European culture
>Implying Europe didn't steal the Middle East's culture during the Crusades

Nigga, we don't have any culture.
#159 - anonymous (12/19/2014) [-]
You herped and derped excellently my friend. Based on your glorious level of intelligence I would assume that you also think that sun is powered by magnets and is a re-skinned flashlight. You assume that cultures that existed at the same times as numerous other cultures are apparently "re-skinnings" of another.

The only thing the crusades did for European culture is by improving our lifestyle as the plundering in the east meant more money for the west.

We were not affected by the lust of yoinking culture until a couple hundred years later when we had stopped burning them at the stake for the discovery of new "blasphemous" traditions. Assuming that the crusades would mean affecting our culture strongly is as ridiculous as assuming that a bully who flips a innocent bystander and shakes him for all his cash to fall out would at the end of the day have a new outlook at life.

"I don't know what an exaggeration to make a point is"

"Herp Derp Europeans were zealous barbarians"
I bet you call the medieval period the dark ages.

The arabic translation literally translated it into "Not on my watch" and by watch, they gave you the arabic word for.. well.. a watch.
User avatar #98 - jibb (12/19/2014) [-]
Watch as in a period of time in working.

It translated correctly to Norwegian, like not the clock-meaning of the word.

unless you're arabic though

the good thing about america is that nig nog are part of their culture for 200 years now , so its not a cultural problem if they swarm everywhere in usa
#82 - galiogolem (12/19/2014) [-]
the thing with murica is that it became independent a few minutes ago, no culture to loose, plus globalization, no possibility of creating culture since they are swarmed by the east and europe.

>Having any culture
#66 - mayoroftownsville (12/19/2014) [-]
Yeah, if only there was a long and unique literary, film, musical, and painting tradition here. Boy, what a world that would be.
#84 - galiogolem (12/19/2014) [-]
You cannot sincerely compare europe, even less the east, to what? 400 ish years of culture? come on, to millenary cultures?
#93 - mayoroftownsville (12/19/2014) [-]
We have a film tradition dating back longer than any other except France's, and more music has been produced in America since the advent of recorded sound than has been in the entire existence of most other countries. As for literature, any avid reader knows than America is a hotbed of top quality work in that area. "The Scarlet Letter," "Catch 22," "Of Mice and Men," "In Cold Blood," "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas," "Moby fucking Dick," need I go on? Because there are hundreds of titles as recognizable and critically acclaimed as those. I didn't even mention anything by Twain, Faulkner or Hemingway.

Even then America just adopts whatever culture it pleases. Dare I say better than Europe? We have an enormous variety of things that come from all over the world.
