the last 60+ years of globalization has made the dependency pretty mutual

how would the US survive without ''made in china''?
#174 - reallifepolandball (02/27/2016) [-]
**reallifepolandball used "*roll picture*"**
**reallifepolandball rolled image**Everything is made out of country because U.S Factories can't compete with child labor and sweat shops. Once President trumps pulls back the majority of the bigger companies the prices to produce things in U.S will be cheaper seeing as there will be no crazy competition. And yes I'm aware Trump has shirts made in China but that's because of what I explained above. He's a business man.
#199 - anon (02/27/2016) [-]
The bigger companies will continue to make goods at the cheapest possible rate. If that means using questionable foreign labour, then so be it.

You really think apple will increase their production costs by magnitudes so that good ol' Johnny Applepie can have a job? I doubt it.

Even if the cost of producing in America came down, to compete with foreign labour would be absolutely unsustainable.
#63 - miasaki (02/27/2016) [-]
Considering the aid provided is aid and not trade, it won't? We send aid everywhere ( beta.foreignassistance.gov/ ) and not in small amounts.

We have shit made in china because its cheap labor, not largly out of necessity (Could argue that we could not survive with products made at home, and they exponentially increase in price, I dont follow that train of thought as every "Made in USA" product I have purchased does tend to be a bit more expensive but its never double or triple, its not even a quarter percent mark up.), same thing with Mexico and the trade deals that occurred way back when. Don't get me wrong, they are both major trade partners with us on paper, but when it comes down to it, was it because we reached out with the foundation and structure or because they did? Also, where is the root of the companies we import products from?
#41 - boothead (02/26/2016) [-]
Seeing as how our country contains the largest consumer base on Earth, pretty fucking Easily when companies move their shit back here because its where the customers are and it would be to expensive to import goods and services with his foreign policies...
Id say really fucking well.

This is not how global economics work. The US cannot isolate itself from the rest of the world and find all raw materials necessary for self sufficiency it would not survive. This isn't a fucking game of Civilization

Pretty ignorant of you to think that the most powerful country in the world would just let another country refuse to trade resources.

Dude the US got the EU to stop buying oil from Russia, you know how much that poked the bear and how tough it is to get EU to agree to higher oil prices because of American diplomacy? Also did you know that the US consumes 80% of the world's pain killers? Everyone feels pain except for Americans. Do you know how hard it is to get the resources to make painkillers? It's not just made out of grass, it takes a lot of work and draining other countries of their resources to do it but the US is that powerful.

you think they would be willing to pay higher wages, construct entirely new factories, pay ludicrous amounts for raw materials instead of just exporting to other 1st world countries with high consumerism?

#96 - miasaki (02/27/2016) [-]
Because no other country has as high consumerism? The U.S tends to be far more lax towards businesses than just about any of the 1st world nations in the top 10. They dont have much of a choice. Not to mention, many factories still exist in the U.S, they are just not in use. Many will need retrofitting or remodeling, but the foundations and internal structure's were built to last, and they have. Not to mention that of the top 10, japan has the lowest min wage of the 1st world nations. Italy technically does not have one from what I have seen, but they have never been known as a big powerhouse when it comes to production......or work. Their options are not plentiful by any means.

The U.S is built around production of just about anything, us producing less and less does nothing but harm. That's actually a pretty good rule of thumb for any nation.

You fucking pleb

I am currently swimming in a pool of simultaneously orgasming young, 10/10 nobel price winning women, all begging for me to lather them in my semen, as it is the only substance they want to consume; normal food does not measure up anymore, and they pay me 2 billion USD for every drop i bless them with

I am leaving with them now to accept my title as god-emperor of the new hegemony of man.

Too bad i have cerebral palsey, autism, downs syndrome, aspergers, muscular dystrophy, every allergy in the world, and that i will most likely blow us all up by placing the nuclear stockpile in the core of the earth
