Our ability to eat raw meat dissapeared thanks to years and years of eating cooked meat. This is an adaption we have because ever since we discovered fire, we used it to cook meat.
Also, a true frugivore (like some apes) are able to survive solely on fruits grown around their natural habitat. The only reason people now can choose not to eat meat is because the globalized economy allows you a huge variety of different fruits that you couldnt otherwise get access to. Not to mention, eating meat also allowed us to expand to conquer all corners of the earth, a feat impossible to accomplish if we relied only on fruits.

Which are hallmarks of other carnivores, as they are what we in academia would call "homologous structures". Ergo, we have them because we evolved to eat (everybody now)... Meat. So please, carry on believing that somehow a group of individuals refraining from eating animals actually means anything in the grand scheme of things. Lions will still kill gazelles, sharks will still devour seals, and nature will go on. Even if the entire human race went the way of vegetarianism, the bloodshed would continue. You can't resist nature, and you can't deny the evolutionary evidence.

Now, where do we find lots of glucose? In it's polymer glycogen! Where is glycogen found? On top of a few amino acids not possible to obtain from the vegetarian world? Muscle matter and the liver primarily. "Glucose" isn't just plant sugar, and plants are terribly shallow sources in terms of energy yield in a wild situation.

We were frugivorous primates for 60 million years, exclusively eating tropical fruit year round and undergoing accelerated evolution.

Human does not equal any primate, it refers to a specific species (and now subspecies) known as Homo sapiens sapiens , modern humans. True, our ancestors were herbivorous for a time, but we can play this evolution game both ways. If you go far enough back, we stumble onto early mammals (exclusively "rodent-like" creatures that were likely carnivorous judging by jaw shape and teeth), before that we hit early synapsids (also largely and possibly uniquely carnivorous), and before that we have "fish" (of which many species are and were carnivorous).
You also missed the key fact, that we're largely smart due to our early ancestor's adaptive advantage for eating meat, which every human carries signs of. Your incisors, canines, stomach and certain pancreatic enzymes are all hallmarks of these traits. Eat vegetarian if it pleases you, but don't make an evolutionary argument for it to someone studying biology.
Side note: Of course there was accelerated evolution, loss of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago left a phenomenal amount of environmental niches to fulfil, of which mammals filled during this time. All mammals, not just primates.

i put the failure of these systems down to human sickness.

Once a highly evolved frugivorous primate with no need for conflict, started eating flesh and descended into madness.

#102 - bokkos (10/15/2014) [-]
We'll pretend that made sense. Unless you're somehow inferring "humans" were somehow better when we just ate plants. Which never happened, as our ancestors were definitely omnivorous long before we were anything close to recognizable as human. On top of which, the increased energy value of the carnivorous lifestyle helped in the development of the brain (an energetically expensive organ) to the state it is now.
