although you have a point, videogames have to find that border of making a game realistic and fun at the same time. I think the bad company and bf series does just that.
User avatar #41 - bokkos (03/29/2013) [-]
I agree they have a place in the industry, but would it be so much to ask for a game where you are a ghost and the whole point of the game is to terrify and kill people, while avoiding the Ghostbusters and Priests? My problem is that they're becoming a default position for triple A game developers, when we would have awesomely unique games all the time.

so you are saying that COD games are better than bad company/battlefield because its more unrealistic? fuck out of my face with that, most people get bad company or battlefield games because of the realism
User avatar #37 - bokkos (03/29/2013) [-]
No, I'm saying they'll never hold a candle to the likes of Skyrim, Metroid Prime, Half Life, Warcraft III, Painkiller etc. Plus the claim of "realism" is so laughingly false it borders on the offensive. To paraphrase Yahtzee: a realistic war shooter would have it so you get shot, laid up in hospital for 6 months, and sent home, preceded by 8 months of rigorous excersize with people you're explicitly not to have sex with.

Yes I know, for every tolerant quote in the bible, there is 100 intolerant ones. Most people neglect the fact that the bible is a collection of 66 books written over 1500 years, by an untold amount of people, all with different opinions

I know, it just bothers me when people pass it off as something good, when it really isn't. I'm not trying to be offensive; a lot of those stories are mind-cripplingly horrible, and one gem cannot outshine so much coal.

That's a ridiculous argument, marriage is nothing like the torture you described. Also, marriage is associate with religion, and many religions disapprove of gay marriage, let alone homosexuality, so why the hell would they want to get married?
#571 - anonymous (03/28/2013) [-]
It's actually a pretty good argument. It calls into question your beliefs on marriage that are based solely on the fact that it is a tradition.
User avatar #442 - bokkos (03/28/2013) [-]
Because marriage is now a social institution, not a religious one. Tax breaks, spousal insurance, custody, shared property are all benefits of marriage over common-lawship. Marriage is not a religious "thing" anymore; mutual pair bonding is shared by too many cultures over too wide a range for that ridiculous notion to carry any weight.
And you're right; religion does, Leviticus 18:22 is quite clear in the matter. The Bible also commands us to stone disobedient children, not to wear blended fabric (tags often lie), never to shave, and most importantly that old man Jehovah is the only god to be worshipped, a laughable fallacy with how many gods and goddesses there are.
#370 - Well tell me, why do you not agree with gay marriage?  [+] (5 new replies) 03/28/2013 on on my newsfeed today -1

Tradition. You don't see me telling Indians that they shouldn't arrange marriages for their children.
User avatar #392 - bokkos (03/28/2013) [-]
It was also tradition to stone one's daughter to death if her dowry proved to be too insignificant in India. It currently is tradition to slice off a young girls clitoris and part of her labia, then stitch the opening shut, as to prevent her from having pleasurable intercourse in many African nations. It was (and sometimes is) tradition to have a Mohel perform a circumcision on a male child, then to have him suck off the flap with it mouth and spit it out (cases have been reported of children contracting and dying from STIs this way). It was tradition to waste perfectly good goats and the occasional person because we thought it would bring good weather.
Nothing, and I mean literally nothing is sacred. Change is something to be welcomed, and traditions that serve no purpose are to be removed. It is a backwards and terrifying notion that we should stubbornly hang from our traditions, when many better, more humanitarian options exist.

Don't voice your opinion on FJ. Especially if it has something to do with not allowing homosexuals to get married. Also, don't make fun of bronies or you will be thumbed down to the eighth level of hell in Dante's Inferno.
