The Dex! Jirachi! Episode 43! That reminds me a butt-load of this The Dex episode if you ever find some time to view it, which goes into some detail about how myths might affect Pokemon, and vice versa... very applicable to our own world
And that pic does bring up the question of just how Steelix would look under the first artist's style... Probably a lot more wormy. Blech, gross.

I was speaking more of the floating magnet balls. I would imagine them more as a type of bat like the ghastly in the first picture. a white/silver fur with one large eye and a wing structure of 2 "arms" on each side and a clear membrane between them giving the magnet shape. I will have a look at that video when I get a chance though, thanks

Inorite? Each one was broken down to its basest animal form, then totally redesigned. It took me forever to find out I was looking ones at Aggron.
I'm glad the artist didn't just stick to Genwun Pokes, also.

Its almost as if he traces back the word of mouth descriptions of pokemon back to their origins. like that ghastly, you can imagine someone seeing that in the night and running back to tell his family "it was like a floating ball of gas with huge eyes!" and that was how he drew it. same with the blastoise "it was an upright turtle with cannons on its back that shot water!" little did they realise from thier quick glance the "cannons" were soft and flexible when not pressurised, not literal cannons. But in general, the groudon and tyranitar are pretty badass. The garchomp is fucking horrifying though

Then you look at this realistic take on pokemon, they do look more realistic and detailed, but they are taking the original pokemon too literally to be an actual organic creature. Not saying its bad, that steelix is fucking baller. but just a comparison of artist's styles and imagination
