More or less, there are barely any supports in LoL as opposed to DoTa. Also, denying LoL is just too fast paced.

Kind of hard to make more supports without being repetitive/unbalanced. Not to mention in the old meta for League of Legends, supports were almost non-existant.

Well, no. At the moment time would be frozen, the planes would be stuck in the air unless a force unaffected by time would act upon it.

Of course, all of this is just speculation. I really don't know what I'm talking about. Pic related.

If someone got this ability then used it, and they too got frozen, what would fix it? To everyone frozen, what do they see? Nothing? Because when time starts again, it would seem like nothing happened for them. So the whole universe would just be frozen. Forever. Unable to cease, unable to start, just eternal stillness.

Wow, I just freaked myself out.

well, i suspect a device such as you describe would create its own timeline rather than not having one. i dont see how an object can exist at all without any sort of a timeline. therefore, the device would age over time in its timeline and eventually break/run out of power or something. things would revert back to normal then, and nobody will have noticed.
#332 - EdwardNigma (07/28/2012) [-]
That would indeed make the most sense in the situation.

I like to think that a time stopping power would actually be you moving so fast, time would seem to slow down and gradually come to a halt. This probably means anything you touch would either be disintegrated or would disintegrate you, but other than that...
User avatar
#121 - themindsculpture (07/27/2012) [-]
If someone froze time, no one who was frozen would be aware that anything happened at all. They would see the results of whatever happened while time was frozen, but no causes. Time would stop and then resume and everyone would pick up where they left off as if nothing had happened.

As for what would fix it, we're dealing with absurd rhetoricals here. Theoretically, if something had the ability to make it stop, it would have the ability to make it go again, too.
#210 - anon (07/27/2012) [-]
But if it were to be a button. THe person who pushed the button would be stuck in time too. Sorry, FROZEN in time too.
How would he press the button again.
I smell the biggest scientific mistake ever.
User avatar
#321 - themindsculpture (07/27/2012) [-]
I never said button. I've said this like 3 times now: frozen time does not equal frozen space.

#128 - EdwardNigma (07/27/2012) [-]
OH MY FUCK. Me and a comrade of mine just realised. Time is frozen, so all particles are frozen. Oxygen itself is frozen. It can't be breathed. So even if you could move after stopping time, you are still fucked from the oxygen not working.

Yup, destroyed the idea of being able to stop time, fucking hell.
User avatar
#243 - accdodson (07/27/2012) [-]
You could still force the oxygen into your lungs by inhaling.
#133 - themindsculpture (07/27/2012) [-]
There are lots of things that destroy the idea of someone stopping time.
#137 - EdwardNigma (07/27/2012) [-]
Yup, we've discovered that.

I like it when Funnyjunk comes together for a discussion on science, even if it's a stupid topic.
User avatar
#151 - themindsculpture (07/27/2012) [-]
A stupid topic would be one of Justin Beiber or Twilight or anything else that everyone on here loves to hate on so much. I'd much rather talk about something stimulating than rehash the same "I HATE x AND YOU SHOULD TOO" conversation.

#123 - EdwardNigma (07/27/2012) [-]
But...if it didn't?

Holy shit, this will drive me insane.
#129 - themindsculpture (07/27/2012) [-]
Well, I supposed the universe in which time had been stopped would be locked into a sort of stasis. Nothing happening. Nothing moving forward.

But, on a happier note, for those who subscribe to the infinite realities theory, there would be an infinite number of "you" living on normally (and abnormally as well) in infinite other universes.

yfw
#135 - EdwardNigma (07/27/2012) [-]
Ah, but as I said in the other comment.

Oxygen fails, you die, universe is in permanent stasis because only you could being time again.

And yes, I do subscribe to said "infinite universes" theory. But with that same theory, there may be infiite versions of me living happily, but theres also an infinite number stuck in fucking stasis.

#140 - themindsculpture (07/27/2012) [-]
Well, actually, as I've said earlier, time would be frozen. Not necessarily space. So, depending on the fine details of whatever is granting the ability to control time, use of oxygen could be possible.

But if you were to move something while time was frozen, in reality it would move instantly. But there would be no resistance to stop it instantly so it would continue to travel faster than the speed of light and you would just end up destroying everything around you.
#106 - themindsculpture (07/27/2012) [-]
Let's make a scene here:

I just acquired the power to make time start and stop on a whim. Only I am immune to it. I decide to freeze time for a little bit of hijinkery (word?). I want to take my buddy's hand and put it onto his face. Easy. Now, once I turn the time back on, it would appear to everyone else that it was instantly. However, it didn't happen instantly. I did it. It was moved with the force that I applied to him and stopped with my own force as well.

In conclusion: no. Nothing with mass can go the speed of light. There's no such thing as infinite energy. And moving one thing with time stopped would not cause those things to happen.
#119 - anon (07/27/2012) [-]
V= d/t

We can't use 0 in that equation so lets just say the best thing. 0.000000...0001.
take your displacement and divide by that and you get a huge number for your speed.

#122 - themindsculpture (07/27/2012) [-]
I didn't say that time control could happen. Physics wouldn't allow that, as you've just shown.
#141 - anon (07/27/2012) [-]
I know but I wasn't wrong with what I originally said. You said you would stop it with your own force. But you would have to apply EXACTLY the same force on the object before you unpaused time.
Also if you threw or pushed and object you wouldn't be stopping it at all.
