So long as things stay he way they are between Republicans and Unionists in N.I, I don't see the greatest of hopes. I just wish there were some better system. Say a better system, where every person were allowed to be legally recognized by the state as Irish, N. Irish or British/Unionist and be treated accordingly, as complicated as that sounds.

Forgiv me if I'm wrong, but coming from somebody living here I believe that the reason the Country was split was due to the Signing of the Treaty, which would give Ireland a free-state, so long as they swear allegiance to the British Crown. Northern Ireland would stay as part of the UK due to the high number of Protestants that lived in the six counties in Ulster (All of Ulster was not included). There was a lot of dispute over the whole thing which eventually led to the Irish Civil War.

There's so many factors to it, yeah, but I was just covering the root of it all, which was colonisation causing cultural divide 300 years before the civil war.

Do the people not want to be Irish?
User avatar #45 - biomedic (04/11/2014) [-]
Some of them do, some of them don't it all traces back to the 1600s when there was mass migration of people from Scotland and Enlgand to what is now northern Ireland because of a colonisation plan set up by the king. The plan was basically cultural imperialism and aimed to take control away from the predominantly gaelic, catholic chiefs. Basically in the long run it set up a massive cultural divide and since then there has been tension and split loyalty. But northern Ireland 'chose' to remain part of the UK following Irish independence.

I put a little crappy explanation in the tags, because there's no description i could put in the corner. In D&D, you role a 20 sided die when you want to accomplish something. Like in almost any game ever, the higher the number the better. And rolling a 3 is so low that it's pathetic. And depending on the dungeon master you play with, they can count a 1 as an automatic failure even if you have enough points in your skills to make up for the poor roll. And endurance is one of the skills that you can use in D&D, it's all context. When you bang chicks, you wouldn't use History or Arcane skills, perhaps athletics or, well, in this case, Endurance, you know... To last.

Basically, he didn't last long in the room full of beautiful women.

Firstly, everyone is a cousin of everyone else. Period. There is no getting around that. Every human on the planet shares common ancestors. The maximum you can get is 9th cousin.

Secondly, inbreeding is only detrimental if the people breeding already have a genetic problem that would be compounded by breeding with someone with the same genetic problem.

Thirdly, because there is no genetic testing for diseases before marriage it is actually possible to meet a random person off the street that is actually a worse match for you with way more possible complications than, your sister, for example.
#62 - anonymous (04/08/2014) [-]
They were obviously talking about immediate cousins, everyone knows most of us are related in a way. Think about your second point, or research it a little more. There's less chance of finding someone worse for you than your sister than the 100 percent in being with your sister (assuming that's true anyway).

You seem to have some FJ points, which are used in the FJ collecting game and nothing else,
if you're willing to give them away just click this link: www.funnyjunk.com/items/4236130#4236130
and click the (T) next to my name. Send them using the arrow next to the points.
Note that they will not affect your thumbs in anyway.
