I can see it that way, it's entirely possible they are literally the same with time spent on outward appearance being the only thing that separates them. But without knowing for sure I'd say what I said in a comment to someone else:

"Based on the evidence given if I had never seen them before and they both stood in front of me and said "You can date one of us, choose now" I would choose the second because she more closely resembles myself.

That and it's easier to guess what kind of things the second might be interested in. At least it appears that she's interested in video games. I know that with any relationship I ever have the girl has to at least be interested in them because if she isn't it probably won't work.

It's like placing a bet. You can play it safe and bet on the best odds and you're more likely to win, or you can place your bet on the worst odds and if you don't lose you make out like a bandit. Obviously I like playing it safe, I don't like wasting my time or resources."

You sir have a very good point. I may have mentioned this earlier (tho in a worse way), beauty is entirely subjective and so if you were given such an ultimatum of "choose one of us" our answers may be different. As with your gambler scenario perhaps I'm more of a risk taker, I'd choose the first and then see whether I like her personality or not rather than feel like I'm playing it safe and going for the girl who (just my opinion) is less attractive but with a personality which could possibly be the same (to use a how i met your mother reference) , I'd rather be a 'reacher', than a 'settler'

But perhaps we're simply over analysing a simple two segment cartoon

First of all I see this as an illustration of how she goes about her day to day. The first one wakes up every day and does her make up, does her hair, and wears stylish clothes. The second throws her hair into a bun and grabs a tee shirt. These are markers of two different personalities. They will be very similar, but their interests and hobbies are obviously different. The first girl obviously plans on being in more of a public light, or at least want's to appear pretty and sophisticated. while the second just doesn't care and does what she wants to do.

interesting... I quite like that way of seeing it, makes what I said seem like pretentious bullshit have you considered that she may be both people (she's like first one when she's dolled up and the second on most days) and the younger self just thought she'd be like the first one all the time? also perhaps they have the same personality... just different amounts of laziness

There has to be something different about the girl she saw herself as and the girl she is now, otherwise this wouldn't exist.

and i'm saying (feel free to disagree ) that the thing that changes is her appearance and self image rather than her personality. She sees herself like some typical hollywood teen, but instead grows up to be (dare i say) a more realistic teen. So her personality of liking or disliking stuff hasn't changed in the image, but her 'glam' and her self image of a constantly 'made-up' face (one could say this idea is given from films) is what has changed... fantasy being rather than reality

this is just my opinion, feel free to disagree

They don't have the same personality, but liking one on a physical level is the same as liking the other. They have the same body, but because of how they grew up they became different.

The second can be just as 'pretty' as the first, she just doesn't want to take the time to do her hair and her interests in clothing are different.
#181 - bigfoote (03/09/2014) [-]
You have a point, that attractiveness on the outside (looks etc.) is entirely up to ones own opinion... however I don't understand why the personality would be different... it is after all the same girl (in regards to the first panel the same future upbringing), the first one may also like the same stuff the second one does, its just that the little girl imagined herself to be different in appearance.

Also, who knows if they have the same fashion sense, one could be all 'dolled up' and have the portal T-shirt as a pyjama top

I find them both very physically attractive. But then again, I find a lot of women physically attractive.
