College here too. If you have enough spending money and equipment (pots, pans) laying around, try to meal prep if possible. It's helped so much so far, I spend maybe 15-20 a week on groceries to make 7 good meals that fill me up. Cheaper shit like oats mixed with mass gainer is good for breakfast. If you're lucky and your meal plan allows pretty much infinite meals, then search around and look for places that'll let you customize as much as possible. I spend my around $15 for meal plan a day on two chicken breasts with rice and veggies every day and it's been v good. Best of luck

What's up skinny nigga. What workouts will you be doing? Also I'm no college boy but I'm assuming that your food situation is some sort of cafeteria deal? Get as much food as you can, take your mass gainer just before you go to bed (you'll have to pee 3-4 times if you're like me but it fucking helps) and I also take mine 2 hours after I work out as well (I still take brotien within the first 20 minutes after a well out). The healthier the better for food but beggars can't be choosers, eat as much as you can. If you have money for some reason spend it on food, and eat it. It's all about calories in > calories out.

I have to disagree with tsoper on this one, mass gainer IMO is a rip off. It'd be cheaper to just buy regular protein powder and then buy pasta or rice. 1 box of pasta = $1, 1600 calories all the carbs you need for making some gains, add meatball, some fish, or chicken for increased protein intake.
I drink a half gallon of 2% milk everyday also because it is nectar of the gods.
If you are on a college campus and have a meal plan I don't know exactly how your cafeteria works but mine is a buffet once you're in so usually I took full advantage and drank lots of milk and got like 2-3 chicken sandwiches and some broccoli on the side because its delicious. Depending on your height andhow much activity you do besides working out ( running, any sports etc..) is how I would base my calories suggestion. My guess though is 2800 or so should do you fine if you're just lifting 3000 will be better but you might see fat gain on top of muscle gain. Always shoo away the gains goblin before and after lifting. Myfitnesspal is how i track my calories and it works great.

Well its not very convenient for me to make rice every fucking night. Plus it takes a lot of time to cook and prepare, same with pasta. Fish is just as expensive if not more, for what its worth protein wise. For protein gains, I have gold standard whey protein. But carbs, I will use serious mass because at less than $5 a day, I get what i would of got anyways buying food.

Sure, rice is cheaper and there are alot of alternatives you can get buying real food, but if you like convenience, and only need the extra carbs before you go to bed, and as a breakfast in the morning, serious mass is the best for that.

That's a very narrow minded way of thinking. Sure the fat powerlifter looks like shit but to lift a lot of weight, you still need to have well developed muscle mass and solid training. Take your diet advice from an athelete and your training from a powerlifter and see what your results are. You might be surprised.

I've actually read a decent amount of literature on while milk being the best, it's just about balance. I personally drink 2% because it tastes fine and it's easier on the stomach in large quantities

The "Fat" macro does not make you gain fat. Excess glycogen from carbs are what primarily store as fat. Last time I checked, there are the same amount of carbs in Whole, and 2% milk.

I cant train to be an endurance runner while also trying to be a bodybuilder. It isnt possible because they go in opposite directions. I guess same is true for bodybuilding vs powerlifting. You either be a hulk monster, or a shredded beast, cant have both.

dont really care to keep track. I lift to reach muscle failure, increase weight, rinse and repeat, then go to sleep and wait for the body to heal so i can go do it again.

only bench on incline, and sometimes squat, and never deadlift because i dont wanna be any shorter than i am. I am focused on building aesthetics, not strength
