Yea, i'd like a drop down list at the top of the comment you are leaving to select your roll and how many times it rolls.

Just have input boxes for parameters.

Windows 8 is way better than 7 in alot of ways. The only thing I dont like is Metro UI. Just way too clunky. At least they brought the old calculator back, having a fullscreen calculator was a pain in the fucking ass for multi-window math stuffs.

Even still, everything I need is in the taskbar, and the stuff i use, but less frequently is on the front page of Metro.

Took some getting used to, but now I like it just fine. If you hate it that bad you can always download the classic start menu addon.

I have three Windows 8.1 computers. Used for gaming, work, pleasure, etc. I liked Windows 7, but I don't feel like anything was lost with 8.
#3 - yoruwaakeru (12/26/2014) [-]
W8 is far superiour to W7, the only reason there is a bandwagon of hate against it is because of Metro UI, running Metro UI on an SSD is god like, I can type 2 letters say for Chrome, CH , and it shows up instantly, and then I press enter and it boots.

Anyway, you're retarded if you think W7 will still be the main gaming platform for the coming years.
User avatar
#6 - OtisMcWonderful (12/26/2014) [-]
>mfw Windows 7 does that

Win key > C > Enter
Enjoy Chrome in 3 keystrokes. SSDs are not exclusive to Win 8, moron. It's nice and snappy here on Win 7 too.

>Anyway, you're retarded if you think W7 will still be the main gaming platform for the coming years.

Oh. Just like how DX10 & DX11 forced everyone onto the next Windows OS, right? Need I remind you that the majority of games released in the past console generation supported DX9?

While I do agree that Win 8/8.1 aren't as bad as everyone thinks they are I even think Vista is fine past SP2 , I think it's ridiculous that you think people are retarded for preferring Win 7.
User avatar
#18 - yoruwaakeru (12/27/2014) [-]
I'm saying they're retarded for lacking their own voice in the matter, and joining the bandwagon of W8 sucks xDDD can't evn UI and shitttt tier lack of functionality xdDDD, W8 has far more options than W7, the UI is just different. Different does not mean bad.

Alright. You've somewhat redeemed yourself. People should try things out before bashing them instead of just parroting what everyone else says.

However, MS did drop the ball with metro. That wasn't what people want from Windows, especially businesses. A standard start menu should have been an option from the very beginning rather than shoehorning it in for Windows 10. I'm also aware of stuff like Classic Shell, but a third party program shouldn't be required for basic functionality.
User avatar
#21 - yoruwaakeru (12/27/2014) [-]
Yes, I have no complaints because there is no use for Metro or Start Menu, everything I need (steam, utorrent, games, chrome, and foobar) is pinned on my task bar, anything else is on my Desktop, no need for metro besides quick searching control settings and etc, which is the main reason I think complaining about metro is bullshit. It has the same functionality as Start Menu, is faster, and there is absolutely no need to go into "accessories -> calculator" or whatever, when you can press Windows Key and type CAL and you press enter for the calculator. Anyway this is not a good argument because the reason I truly think W8 > W7 is just support, and yeah I agree MS should have added Metro UI but kept the option to revert to Start Menu, I wonder what people would whine about if W8 had W7's Start Menu, maybe access to advanced functionality.
User avatar
#24 - OtisMcWonderful (12/27/2014) [-]
But I can press win key and type cal then enter to open the calculator on Win 7. Windows really hasn't undergone any huge internal changes since Vista. Win 7 is a prettier Vista, Win 8 is a flat Win 7. Win 10 will be a flatter Win 8 with a metro-ized start menu.

There were some issues with a handful of games when Win 8 released, like GTA 4 refusing to even start, but I don't think those have issues anymore.

As far as what people would complain about, I don't know. There are people that don't like flat design, so maybe that.

#25 - yoruwaakeru (12/27/2014) [-]
But if there are compatibility issues, you can adjust it from W8 to W7, so in that same fashion if W7 has compatibility issues, it can't run it as W8.

#26 - OtisMcWonderful (12/27/2014) [-]
Nah. I've got a cousin that updated to Win 8 not long after release. We couldn't get it to start at all. The thing is, it ran just fine Windows 7, so Win 8 with Win 7 compatibility should have been able to work too.

There's only two things stopping me from installing Win 8 right now. First is having to reinstall everything. I have a separate boot SSD for my Windows install, but I also have a shitload of programs installed to it. I keep installers for my most used stuff, so I won't have to hunt for that. But it's still installing stuff that's larger than my Windows install several times over. And second is the upcoming release of Win 10. There's no need to get 8/8.1 now with the next version on the horizon.
User avatar
#70 - yoruwaakeru (12/27/2014) [-]
lol W8 has spec requirements, if you could not get it to start, that's because you didn't have the specs to run it, and why install w8 on a potato anyway.
User avatar
#71 - OtisMcWonderful (12/27/2014) [-]
You realize we're talking about a game, right? Win 8 ran just fine. He bought one of those prebuilt CyberPower PCs, or whatever that brand is, so specs was not the problem. It's a software issue when something refuses to start. Do you even computer?

made me think it was about windows, sorry dude.
User avatar
#73 - OtisMcWonderful (12/27/2014) [-]
Oh. Yeah. I guess the would cause confusion.

But anyway, for whatever reason, GTA 4 would just refuse to start at all. It didn't even give an error message.
User avatar
#74 - yoruwaakeru (12/27/2014) [-]
Yeah. I had the same problem, and so did another of my friends, run it as W7 thru compatibility settings.

Anyone who thinks an OS is superior than another is just fooling themselves, even just going from Windows XP - 8.1, they have each have had their good and bad uses.

Except Vista... Fuck Vista.

TL;DR Computers are fine it's the users that are stupid.
#58 - kokanum (12/27/2014) [-]
Except for Vista, ME, and Windows 8.1
Windows 8.1 should have never been put on a computer; the whole thing was meant for a tablet.

Ask actual 8.1 users, I'm a content 7fag. It's just testimony from people I respect and trust tech wise that say 8.1 is practically an entirely new OS over 8.

OSs are better because of how well optimized they are. Windows 8 has actually gave some games more FPS because of how well optimized they are.

Ok man that's just plain wrong. Yes between Windows/Mac/Linux it's based on preference but an update to an operating system is not better or worse based on preference. Just because something has a couple things that might possibly work better does not make it debatably better than another. With a few exceptions, every update has been better than its predecessor, companies don't make worse software in an update, I don't think you realize how much goes on behind the scenes. Windows 7 is better than Vista, Windows XP is better than Windows 2000. There is no maybe, they are an evolution of it, Neanderthals were stronger than humans but humans are better than Neanderthals no questions asked.

#19 - yoruwaakeru (12/27/2014) [-]
I disagree, if you're gonna game, XP will crash anything. My friend's computer is far far better than mine, and any game will crash because of lack of support from newer games, specially Indie games. Not that I give a shit about indie games. But still making a point.

W7 is the easiest to operate with the easiest functionality and options, but saying W8 is shit and < W7 is retarded, it's just a bandwagon of butthurt kids thinking they know what they're talking about.
User avatar
#66 - thewulfman (12/27/2014) [-]
That's a hardware and driver issue, not XP issue. I used XP for years before switching to 7, and I never had games crash on me.
